I've lost interest in boxing over the last fee years- stopped training and fighting myself, sick of the disrespectful clowns that have an opinion on everyone, corrupt judges and failure to make decent match ups all mean that I've went from never missing a show and watching at least one old fight per day to now barely interested. I taped the match room Bellew show a few weeks back and have only just bothered my arse watching it. If Fat Frank offered up this level of mismatch- brook and Mitchell's opponents he would be slated. He also got slated for his fighters continually getting favourable results- just like match room. And he got slated from ripping us off with PPV and **** under cards- the Groves/Froch undercard was worse than anything I can remember under Frank. Has Eddie Hearn being getting the same keel of abuse? Why has Kell Brook's career never ever progressed? He seems to be at the same level he was at 5 years ago.
Good post. Frank and Hearn are two cheeks of the same ass, there are some kids on here who think the sun shines out of Hearn's backside but as a Promoter and match-maker he's not much different to Frank and in some cases worse for the fights he puts on. Promoters will always try to maximize their profits for the least risk possible which means the end result is a weaker show for their audience, unfortunately unless you're a hardcore fan you won't notice the difference. Boxing is the best sport in the world but also the worst run one too. I can't think of any other sport where the best don't face the best, the fact that Pac vs Mayweather wasn't made reflects on the entire sport and at all levels and there's plenty of cases where the best British domestic match-ups weren't made either for one reason or another. Unfortunately until something radical changes that it'll remain the same and we as fans of the sport will only get the occasional great match-up rather then it being the norm.
I think Eddie gets his fair share of abuse, in his defence Bellew was making his debut at Cruiser so he was never going to be in with a top opponent. Kell’s fight was to get him some rounds and keep him busy until his IBF shot against Porter/Malignaggi – wouldn’t of expected a tough test for him as he doesn’t want to lost that mandatory spot. I think Adamu stepped in at fairly late notice and that was always going to be a dull fight unfortunately. I agree the card was poor but you can make a defence for Eddie in a lot of the fights, Smith brothers pulling out and as explained above. Agree with Kell, went the IBF route and had a couple of eliminators so finally looked like he would be stepping up. Then injuries back and forth with Alexander scrapped the fight for him, Senchenko gained a bit of interest in him again and he’s fighting for the IBF before July 19th I believe.
gotta be honest, i like hearn but his match ups are shocking. All the fights he puts on always seem to tune ups lol. I can understand for the olympians but he fills the show with too many of them..You want a big headline, a good co feature a few good match ups on paper (i'm sure we can all be fair and say sometimes fights don't go how you'd imagine) then maybe one olympian whos still learning etc... Way too many 'keep busy' fights are stacking his cards.
