The bigger guy almost always wins, just like tonight all three fights the bigger guy won. I think maybe there is too big a gap in the weight classes. I really hate to say that, but I can't help but believe it.

NO! That is a terrible idea.

I know, but the size difference is astounding.

I actually think Vitor is bigger than Anderson weight wise, just Anderson is taller. The fact that Vitor foolishly waited for something to counter instead of trying to keep pressing and blitzing him doesn't exactly play into size factoring in.

This is what I was going to post. The same applies to Jones vs Bader. Jones is lanky as ****. Plus, Bader is also a HUGE LHW.

I really don't get what the OP is so up in arms about. What do you want to do, match these guys up by height and reach?

that was something else i noticed in Jones/Bader. Bader may be physically bigger and stronger but Jones had superior reach and nasty striking and was also a really good wrestler.

and more weight classes is a terrible idea. They have 7 weights, let's not go down that slippery slope boxing did with their weight class increases. Even if UFC is controlling all of them. There's no reason to dilute things.

They're going to add an eighth: Flyweight at 125.

I think that's good enough. Just like the original eight in boxing.

that's fine. I've known about adding Flyweight. UFC fighters have to step up their skills to compete if they're smaller. Edgar refused to be chased out of LW and he's the champ. Boxing could have benefited from the same thing but instead they kept cutting up the weight classes.

I do think theres a need to narrow the weightclasses a bit, 5lb gaps from boxing really needs to be avoided unless were talking really small guys but equally there are fighters who are clearly disadvanatged by size.

    Something along the lines of....

    125
    135
    145
    155
    165
    175
    185
    200
    220
    No Limate

I'm not really saying I def want it but man with the bigger weight classes 20lbs is starting to seem like a whole lot!

The only extra weight class they need is flyweights and that will take time to develop. Other than that I think they're fine. I can see the argument for a crusierweight division but the fact is that there simply isn't heavyweights to make the division worthwhile. Besides today the big issue wasn't wait but reach (Torres and Jones fights) more weight classes doesn't solve that problem.

Depends on the limate I'd say, just adding in a 230 division would only leave you with the likes of Lesnar and Carwin at HW but if you drop it down to 220 or even 215 while dropping LHW to 200 then I think you'd have a good spread of talent.

Personally I think the divide either side of WW is actually the biggest issue, 15lbs either way for guys that size is a big gap, argeubley bigger than 20lbs between LHW and MW.

the last thing you want to do in a growing sport with only a few "superstars" and add to that, guys who are big names for a few fights then drop into nothingness, is to thin out the talent pool, imo
