The real heavyweights are in the cruiserweight division. We should stop calling them cruisers. They’re heavyweights.

It’s time to call the heavyweight division Super-Heavyweight as it is in the Amatuers. Christ! They've been Superheavyweights for years. Time to make it official.

Make PEDs legal too. We all know whats been going on anyway.

Exactly. The money isn't there just at heavyweight anymore. Marciano might find it more profitable and feasible to fight in a lower division the way many cruiserweights do nowadays.

I never said Kovalev was an all time great, only that he had a chance to become one. He won the first Ward fight on my card ( The 10th round is bogus scoring by the judges ) , and lost the second thanks parity to below the belt line blows. Now I think he's a spent hurricane, and won't be back on top, but for a while he was the best light heavyweight in the world and a fans type of fighter.

I know GGG is going to the hall of fame. So do you. GGG has the most consecutive title defenses at middle weight, and is one of the most durable and best punchers in the history of the division with a fine jab.

Also its noted that you did not reply about Martinez, or Cotto wanting to meet GGG in the ring, or Canleo waiting several years for him to age before doing it.

I get it, anyone active in boxing to you sucks, so why don't you play lawyer again and tell us why Tyson isn't guiltily sexual assault and **** or tell us again exactly why Italian people cheat? Its absurd you accuse me of racism, I never said anything like that in my tenure of the forum or in life. Yet you do, and seem okay with sexual assault and ****.

ALL Fighters would Do and do do like ALL of their peers in Every Era...

Marciano was a Heavyweight because Men that walked about at 180 or more were HWs, just the same as fighters that walked about at in & around 150lbs were Welterweights.

Fighters then (Generally Speaking), didn't dream of dropping 20lbs or more just to fight at a lower weight. they fought at their basic closest weight & up at Catchweights, rarely down.

just like fighters Today think Nothing of walking around at 170lbs dropping 25lbs and fight at Welterweight, or 200 lbs men drop down to 175lbs and fight as L-HW's

TODAY Marciano's Stature and weight would sit him at L-HW, back then in his time by comparison RJJ would have fought as a HW.

people always do like everyone else, why would he even dream of HW or today's Cruiser for that matter when very few 5'11 190lb men would even consider it, the Rock would do just the same as them.

    Light-Heavyweight

    He was not.
Don´t compare him with other men.

    He would fight @HW.
    Why?
Because thats where the money is.

No they’re cruisers. You are wrong.

    Where’s your proof of PEDs?

Povetkin, Ortiz, Fury, Pulev, Whyte, Browne, Thompson... and that’s just for starters.

Maybe The giants got better when the PEDs came along?

The cruisers might be a glamorous division now, but they have been called the wasteland division before.

It is definitely a division that has its ups and downs.

Much would depend on when he came along.

Personally I think that Usky will move up to heavy soon.

That’s why I really would like to see them called Heavyweight (as they are in the amateurs) while they’re still glamorous.

When cruisers really were 176-190 on the night, they represented a wasteland between established weight classes but now they are men as big as 95% of best heavyweight champions have been historically, so I think the word cruiserweight needs dropped.

    These guys are heavyweights now.

I am by no means sold on the idea that Marciano could be a viable fighter at light heavyweight, or that it would be a sensible strategy for him if he was. I understand that he was walking around significantly above 200lbs.

Light heavyweights in his era did not get to re hydrate after the weigh in, but they often took heavyweight and catch weight fights, while campaigning at light heavy. A world class light heavyweight back then, would weight 187 or more in a heavyweight or catch weight fight.

Marciano weighed less than Archie Moore when they fought, and Moore was the current light heavyweight champion, but look at a picture of them together.

If you had a choice between matching him as a severely weight drained light heavyweight, or a small cruiser weight, then you are probably going to go for the small cruiser weight option.

Marciano wouldn't be satisfied with the cruiserweight division, he was 3 pounds away from light heavyweight in his earlier career, yet he still fought at heavyweight. Now his natural weight would still be in cruiserweight, but he'd just simply be a cruiserweight knocking out heavyweights

Do you have any good sources on this? He must have been extremely out of shape (no wonder he was too slow to make a pro team).

Sadly no. I’ve read it numerous times on other forums. Im sure some of the more informed experts on this site can confirm or deny this.

Marciano would not fight in the Superheavyweight division.

Today Rocky would be fighting where historically the best heavyweights have always fought. between 180-215lb.

And that is the true heavyweight division.
