Interesting US fight: Pavlik - Williams

Williams is a big guy so I don't think the step up will hurt him. I think he's all wrong for Pavlik...He could get Hopkinsed again.

P Willy UD but his chin will be tested for sure. Think he will use a lot more movement like the end of Margo fight. If he stands with Kelly he is going to taste canvas

 

I don't see why everyone is picking Williams, I really like him but this would be a massive win in my book. Can't see him pulling it off as much as I would like to see him shut up the Pavlik fanboys for good.

Hope this is on telly over here. Come on ESPN, when I subscribe to ESPN I am going to stress that it's the boxing i'm signing up for.

 

Its intresting because Williams has never been in with anyone as tall as him, thats stronger and a bigger puncher.

However i doubt Pavlik has ever been in with anyone with such a reach advantage. He will not be able to fight in a straight line how he normally does. Williams jab will pick him apart.

Its 50-50.

 

I think Williams will beat Pavlik with a bit in hand. Bit of a birthday treat as well for me, it's my 30th - so any birthday presents from you lot to send me across will be graciously received.

And I think Sky will snap this up. Great middleweight fights are a rarity these days, this has huge potential.

 

Williams will win. Pavlik is a basic 1 2 slugger who will be completely befuddled with the amount of leather thrown at him. Williams has some decent pop in his gloves but this guy throws so much leather that he can cause guys ALOT of problems espcially a basic slugger like Pavlik. For every punch that Pavlik throws Williams would have thrown 5 or 6. A late stoppage isnt out of the question as Pavlik isnt capable of adjust-ing nor does he have a plan B.

 

I agree 100%, never saw the hype with Pavlik.

 

Me neither. He announced himself to the world when he beat another overrated slugger Edison Miranda and everyone ooh'ed awe'ed and guffawed over him. Then he beat Taylor twice and everyone thought he had arrived. Funny thing is the "Ring" ran an article on him about 4-5 years ago saying the "Ghost" was the most protected guy in boxing. This kid ran up 30-0 and hadnt fought a live pulse. The guys a decent fighter but a good box puncher always stands him on his head. Williams is a decent box puncher who throws a ton of leather.

 

The ring said McCloskey was the most over proteceted boxer one year no idea what the hell that was about he had only 15 fights and was in against Bazan who is a decent journeyman.

 

I'm hyped for this fight, I think this is Williams fight, pavlik is too straight ahead and flat footed, his only chance is to land a big shot and knock williams out. Pavlik has a southpaws nightmere (a great right hand) but he doesn't lead with it and has no slickness behind it, Williams knows how to fight a come forward basic style and he can fight backwards which is a bad look for Pavlik.

Williams wingspan dwarfs Pavliks, Kelly might be taller in height, but Paul is a freak with that frame, size of his arms and workrate. He has a 82 reach next to Pavlik's 75. Now I'm not saying he's Bernard (not even close) what I'm saying is when you have a guy coming straight towards to you, you can pitch from the mound with a reach that long. as i said he can fight going backwards (proved vs Margarito) Pavlik has a nice jab but i think Paul's trainer will have him doing the "cha cha" slide to frustrate Pavlik. Taylor layed the plue print in the second fight but couldn't finish it.

Punch move Punch move, will be Williams strategy, Pavlik can only beat someone who stands still, he likes to punch from a stable platform and if he can't set up the 1 then he can't land the 2, we've seen his will can be broken if he's not having success, only question is how williams will take a middleweight punch as he'll get tagged a couple of times, but i think his workrate and angles wins him a decision.

 

Although Pavlik can bang he's not a concussive one punch knockout artist. His power is to be respected but he doesnt have fight changing power in my opinion.

 

He beat Taylor twice who was overhyped so they had to hype Pavlik as well to appear consistant.

 

Dangerous fight for Pavlik but where else can he go. Think Punisher wins it but who's he been in with the size of Kelly to know if he can take a shot, he unravelled a bit when Margarito started getting to him and he isn't exactly Meldrick Taylor with his hands
