The Murrey fight is back now as an Interim title because Golovkin was denied Super Champ status. I was against Murrey being a bogus champ but query why Shumenov can be a Super Champ through being inactive whereas Golovkin had a busy year. I am told it is about Golovkin did not fullfill his mandatory defence, but how could have Shumenov when he was inactive. I think the Quigg title is a complete joke and would love the WBA to give him 90 days to defend against Rigondaeux, and Golovkin to face Murrey instead of Fletcher. On the other hand the HW division has got stale and the WBC vacancy has livened it up. To create further opportunities I would not be against the ordinary title to be fought amongst the highest ranked contenders as Wlad as got WBO & IBF obligations. Interim and Super Champs can work if the criteria is clear and is consistently applied
The WBA have ruined their own brand and must be considered the most Mickey Mouse out of the 4 orgs. Quigg isn't a real champion and neither will Murray be. I thought the rule behind super champs was they had to unify with another belt, that rule seems to have gone out of the window though.
Its not down to Quigg is it, he just fights whoever is put in front of him. Would he take a fight with Rigondaeux, who im is by far the best in the division and will go through the weights to SFW.
Eddie admitted there is no way they'd put Quigg in with Rigondeaux. Hardly blame he. No money in the fight and Rigondeaux is behind Mayweather for me in the P4P rankings.
Eddie also claimed regular titles are real title and interim titles are not. He is so close.... Both are not real titles, Eddie u mug. Quiggs career sums up what's wrong with boxing - Mickey Mouse titles and fights the fans wants not happening...
These titles are beyond a joke now. The term "WORLD CHAMPION" is threw about too lightly and the truth is the fighters who hold these titles hold only a quarter or in this case for Murray a fifth of the world title..
If like Eddie Hearn says that the regular WBA title is a legit title then there is 5 major champions in anyone weight class. That's half of the top ten calling themselves champ. ****in joke.
There is only one MW champ and that is Martinez until someone beats him. The belts are just a business angle on generating as much money as possible.
The likes of Hearn would say that because he plans on selling Scott Quigg as the real world champion to the casual sky viewer because they don't know any better. Tbh it's not Quiggs fault, but i would have more respect for him if he stopped saying he was a legit world champion. I mean he hasn't even won the belt in the ring and he could only draw with that Cuban so i don't know how he should have got a title.
Any news on what is happening with the regular WBA heavyweight strap? Was Povetkin stripped as promised?
Personally I don't mind the interim title if the champion is out for a long time. The WBA "regular" title however is just making things a mess.
