I'm surprised how likeable this kid can be. Keep it up Floyd and you might become more like the atg you claim yourself to be.

Floyd was pretty cool in that video, displaying what I'd like to call confidence (as oppose to arrogance). Part of that was probably due to the guy interviewing him was more sincere and polite than others (ESPN), so Floyd simply appeared to giving back mutual respect.

The only thing I'd disagree with him on is him being the most exciting fighter in a line of fighters. Sorry Floyd, you're probably the best, but not the most exciting.

I thought I was the only one! I bet the people he interviews must be thinking "Ahhh ****, not this annoying ***** again". For others who are irrirated by him too, you'll love the following vid (forward to 4:35), Rampage makes fun of him

Yeah, but you can catch him acting when he laughs uncomfortably at the begining when he says money. It's not natural for him like it was was for Ali. He's not witty.

I find it weird hat he's willing to have everybody hate him just so he could be a star and sell PPVs.

Yes he can be likeable if he's himself, but that wasn't genuine, he was acting, it was obvious. If you want to see the real PBF watch, for example, the interview with Merchant after the Corrales fight.

Floyd is such a character. And he really is a character! But he confuses me.

I detested him before the Ricky fight. It started very early on, before Rick's fight with Kostya. Ricky had domintated his fight (I can't remember the fight but I believe he was on the undercard).
After Rick's fight, he walks into the gym or the backstage area or wherever boxers hang out. Floyd was there and Ricky, who at the time, was a huge fan of Floyd's talent, went up to Floyd (who was with his huge entourage) and basically said "I'd just like to shake your hand mate, I love to study your fights just to watch your talent and the art you bring into the game". Rick held his hand out to Floyd, who sucked his teeth and looked away, as though to say "get to **** newbie! You haven't earned the right to speak to me yet".

Ricky, dissapointed went to walk through Floyd and his crew but Floyd had his legs stuck out, preventing Rick passing. Rick politely asked if he could pass, which Floyd either (I can't remember this part completely) either told him to walk around or just ignored him. To which Ricky (who is used to British pubs where the biggest fights kick off over the slightest of things constantly) just kicked Floyds legs out of the way and said "Y'know... it's true what they all say about you... you are a ****ing *****!".

Ricky always really disliked him after that and who can blame him for that obnoxious attitude?

After the fight was signed, we all saw how pathetic Floyd acted (well, all those except the biggest Floyd bum-bandits). I already had a disliking of Floyd for the way he treated Rick after that earlier fight but I began to detest the guy. He came across as completely stupid! Absolutely no intelligence (that said, no one who fights like him could be accused of being dumb. His ring intelligence, his speed of thought in the ring and his ability to change fight plan within the time a single punch is thrown really shows that the guy is close to genius in his trade!)

The arrogance and obnoxiousness he showed during 24/7 made me cringe or seeth with anger.

He was just such a horrible, horrible person!

Then, early morning GMT, December 8th/9th and Ricky is sprawled out on the canvass, after being completely outclassed by an ATG. I was heartbroken although I (as my posts here will agree) knew that Floyd was a step too far for Rick.

Ricky, before having time to shake off his KO has a mic stuck in front of his mouth and with his typical good humour and self deprecation told the audience "I was doing alright till I ****ing slipped!" (which I noticed many Americans totally misunderstood. This was your typical British self deprecation, humble humour. He was basically taking the **** out of himself).

Next Floyd got on the mic and completely shocked me. He told us how hard it was for him to win that fight. How Ricky was as "tough as nails" and how it was the hardest fight of his career so far. He bigged up and almost worshipped the British support (who had been daft enough to boo Floyd's national anthem. Which also was misunderstood by Americans in general but I totally understand that. It was stupid of our support to do!) and he was just so humble and sacrificed his own bragging to instead support Ricky.

It was obvious that he knew how heart broken Rick was at that time. Not only receiving his only defeat but Floyd knew how much Rick wanted to please his fans etc.

Floyd's congratulatory remarks continued through the post fight press conference and my feelings about him - which only 48 hours previous were really quite passionate and bordering on to hatred - were growing kinder and kinder.

Suddenly I realised I liked the guy! I understood that he played a character. He had a role as a villain and he played it perfectly and I was considering him, all in all, one of the best fighters of all time (including his pantomime-esue villainy to build hype).

I would spend many an hour in the pubs arguing with people who still thought of his as the bling braggadocio, bigheaded bellend!

Then... then he released that stupid rap thingy in the car lot, where he called Rick and Pac and JMM "pussies".
I was really disappointed. There was just no need in it at all.

Anyway, now, he is no longer playing the villain and I believe that is partly due to him being a father (and be the looks of it a really good father! In fact, as much as I love my pop and wouldn't change him for the World, I don't think I would complain too much if I were to be adopted my FMJ ;) ).

But more than that... I think he learnt a lot from his fight with Ricky. I think he saw that his persona created total hatred in people. Especially when he toured Britain. He really was in danger at times of being lynched (compare that to the rapturous welcome Pac received in UK). Brits (although Hollywood has made many Americans believe is a land of Mary Poppins, tea and crumpets... and of course the bad teeth! Cannae forget the bad teeth!) are a tribal people who have had to fight for millenia for their tiny island and they have generally won (obviously William the conqourer invaded and settled but that was after Harold of England hand to speed march his men 350 miles North to defeat the Vikings in Stamford Bridge and then immediately recieve word that William had landed, so speed marched the 350 miles back to Hastings and eventually and by the smallest of margins lost). Through war and conquest, British blood drips with those of the best warriors of their days, The Celts, The Romans, The Vikings, The Angles, The Saxons and not to forget the native Briton/Celt/Pict who ruined many Roman legions. They have forever fought each other in several civil wars, they have many times fought the then World power and won (ie France, Spain, Russia, Germany). They fought alone against the Germans and actually won the Battle of Britain and the Battle of the Atlantic before USA even entered (see, you didn't save our asses... Canada may have a claim but not USA). They fought through out WWI while France mutinied, Russia pulled out to fight their revolution and America didn't even enter until 5 months till the end...
Wowzers! I have gone so far off topic here, I can barely remember my point but it was something like this. Brits are tribal, you see it plainly in what Europe spitefully dubbed "The English disease", football/soccer hooliganism. British football fans fought their opposition as early as the late 1800's.

Now.. The point of all that bollocks above (it reads very nationalistic and all "aren't we dead 'ard!!", doesn't it but I swear there was a "good" point behind it but I was lead astray by being called for tea), Floyd saw the tribal anger of the British people. He even tried to use it with the brilliant idea of wearing a Man United shirt (a brilliant idea in principle but most people there would have been reds).
He saw a wide eyed rage that he had never witnessed before and it was all because he opposed their boy... a member of their tribe, if you see what I mean.

Floyd, contrary to many beliefs from people who don't understand psychology or the art of boxing, is an extremely intelligent man and I believe we are going to see a completely new Floyd from now on. A modest, gracious and kind Floyd who wants the adoration that people like Rick and Pac recieve and also wants the vicious backing of the tribe behind him.

I'm rreally sorry I ****ed that up at the end! I got completely off kilter! Sorry it became so long winded and I hope it doesn't read like a BNP style slogan;)

Thanks to anyone who got this far into it!
