Well done Carl stay busy and stay winning.I was at the stadium and thought Joyce was good value for his win although some of the scoring was mixed up but as a neutral i felt the right man won.I thought young Mc Carthy had more reason to be agrieved.

I thought Mclaughlin was robbed last night. At one point in the third round he looked as if he had JJJ in trouble, and didn't even receive a point for it. McLaughlin should turn pro and base himself here in Belfast where he will get some appreciation for his worth.

Good luck to Neil in the future, and I hope it's not too long until he is back in the ring.

I am glad someone else noticed that. I couldnt watch anymore of the finals after the Egan-McCarthy fight and switched over to the boxing on Sky, as it was doing my head in watching McCarthy pierce Egan's guard and get no credit for it. It seemed that the script had to be made into reality - i.e. Egan's ten titles - the commentators were frothing at the mouth every time it was came up - which was often.

McLoughlin won against Joyce in my opinion as well. I feel sorry for those lads that put in a good shift and don't get their rewards. That said, it is a perennial problem with the flawed scoring in Amateur boxing.

there is not much to look forward to to be honest - yer man was a joke and wouldnt have lasted a round with me never mind Bricksy.

Its not his fault obviously and they had lined up better opposition but hey - 'he did what was asked of him'

On a brighter note I got to meet Gerry Storey for the first time last night and that man is impressive. Casual, self assured, thoughtful, pensive, knowledgable, someone you could tell people listen to intently and take stow in what he has to say - and that was from only spending a couple of moments with him. A man's man - can you tell he impressed me.

Storey is a man of many yarns, I was up with him on Wednesday night talking about Sam's career. Sam is apparently running a gym in Spain at the moment for anybody interested.

When I did the feature for Boxing News I could written it three times over with the amount of material I got off Gerry! :patsch

Some great photographs he has in the scrapbook too.

Well done Carlos for last night another step up the ladder as they say whens the next outing planned for?

As for JJJ winning last night I thought the scoring was a bit iffy to say the least and I thought he got beaten. Some of the combinations punches did not score as many as they should have for McLaughlin.

Add to that Sporting Fingal got ripped off against Bohs cheating *******s diving for a peno the ref was a joke.

By some freak occurrence I ended up watching this match. Fingal were unlucky and the penalty was a complete dive.
