I am just thinking out load here regarding Nowhere 2 Hyde Promotions can you see Hyde doing any more boxing events in Ireland be it with Dolphil or on there own? I know they wont get tv but not a lot do get tv during the way the recession has hit. I wonder if there was something there last night that might get him to bring more live boxing to Ireland in the coming year or so. Not a lot of boxing is happening so far this year compared to last year there are the fans there for it but they need someone to take a risk.

Sorry to herar the stories about the CityWest. I personally have experience of this and I am one of the first people to defend the travelling community because I know there are good travellers out there. It's a can of worms though guys. I recommend you pm each other. Having said that, it's bad for Irish boxing and it only increases negative sterotyping of the sport we all love. I would let the promoters know so they are more aware. I know my Wife will never go to another show with me after what happened last August. Shame. It's always been the greatest example of an elephant in a room when it comes to sensible logical debate in this country. Your either a politically correct do gooder or scumbag in my experience when you try to listen to both sides of the debate.

Knew Bernard Dunne when he lived in Santa Monica. Wondered if he's a revered figure in Irish Boxing?

I can't see Nowhere 2 Hyde Promotions putting on any big shows here on there own and probably not with Dolphil promotions, i thought the whole event was very poor to be honest, i thought there would at least be a big-screen over the ring or where the boxers entered, the lighting at the entrance was just a few 100watt light bulbs. I was at a White Collar boxing event last month and it was honestly a better set-up. what fighters were you even thinking about now that they could promote a big show like that in Ireland again soon?

Kind of. He brought boxing back to the mainstream over here. The likes of Lee, Duddy, Macklin and co got a huge leg up because of Dunne. He was on TV for most of his fights since relocating here and could bring a huge crowd to his fights. But i've heard stories of him that aren't to endearing.

Bernard was a helluva good guy, S -- no airs whatever. A leprechaun with a glint in his eye 'n a mean-streak sparring.

At the event last night aswel. Myself and a couple of mates. Are seats were taken but just as it happened their were 3 seats left in the aisle. The security was a disgrace. ****ing kids were running about the place and spitting drink all over the place.

paddymickey ive stuck up for travellers in threads on the lounge here before, I go out road bowling every weekend so have a lot of traveller friends, one of them being Willie Caseys brother Tom who lived down here for a while but last night was a bloody disgrace. Ive already contacted dolphil about it on facebook and will send an email tomorrow. Looking at todays Sunday World just made it worse. No mention of the boxing in the sport pages but 2 seperate articles about traveller/criminal feuds that were expected to kick off at the fight. I know its a rag of a paper but people read it. People who would be casual fans arent going to head along to the fights when they read that there has to be 3 armed response units on site ( I only saw one )

Lads I wasn't there but I know a thing or 15 about the response units.

They will always meet the quota at boxing events but only put the bare minimum out there and active.

They will over supply the quota at League of Ireland games (3-4k crowds seperated by the width and length of a football pitch) and will crawl all over everyone.

Long story short they turn up to boxing events in small numbers because there might be actual trouble and they aren't willing to police that so instead they hide out the back all night.

But they will go to a game of semi-professional football with 200 armed people and beat up and harrass the crowd (which is always very low and segreated) because its easier overtime and you can batter whoever you want.

    True facts kids.
