Steward said either Randy Griffin or Howard Eastman both very good oppenent's considering it would only be his 18th or 19th fight. I agree with you on McCloskey but he made it hard for himself, the first 2 rounds he was excellent but then he stopped jabbing and started brawling maybe it was the fact that he was fighting another southpaw or because the lump over his eye that unsettled him? Hopefully he can pick himself after this.

Excellent fight last nite lads, was very impressed by lee.....He boxed brilliantly, but he was holding back a little you could tell the vera defeat was still on his mind......coz he could have got gibbs outa there alot earlier than he did!!!!i was screaming a the tv for him to go in with a combo to drop the american....

I think Lee would do better against Sturm. He might out box Abraham and stay away from his right hand, but in Germany, it is going to be VERY tough to get a decision. Especially against AA. The 'irregularities' are well documented.:-( Biggest problem now would be getting a fight with Sturm. Mundine moved right into the number 2 position. I'm sure he was promised a shot after how quickly he vacated SMW so they could 'gift' that one to Kessler. Of course, it is entirely possible/likely that Pavlik will move to 168 after AA. HBO has that fight penciled in for January. Then there are three belts vacant.

I think we can all agree that with Duddy,Dunne and now Lee, all winning impressively in recent weeks, that Irish boxing is well and truly back on track. We have lots of boxing to look forward to in the future, with Duddy challenging for world honours[hopefully in Belfast], Lee and Dunne pursuing higher world rankings, along with Lindsay, Macklin, Moore,McCloskey and many more improving their status as contenders for various titles.

Also the Olympics is rapidly approaching, our five boxers going to Beijing are in their final preparation, fine tuning their skills, in their quest for Olympic glory.I have a feeling that one of our boxers will come home from the games as a major star. That boxer is John Joe Nevin, who has improved remarkably this year.

Well good luck lads, and UP THE IRISH:D
