You should have seen the Nevin fight. They should really lose the rag about that one. Hopefully some of the journalists will ask the IABA what they did about it.
I dont know where to start with that response Adam, I really dont. I'll be kind and just say its shortsighted. I could whitter on about various points but it boils down to this. A. The fighters didnt **** the promotion up and they just want to fight. B. They are fit and available at no cost to the Hylands and would provide an added attraction on the bill C. it would be a bit of a PR coup and show them in a very positive light D. MOST IMPORTANTLY it would help fill the Stadium for the Hylands, showing punters and potential investors/sponsors that the Hylands provide a popular in demand product. WIN, WIN, WIN! Now I have typed all this off the top of my head and could have worded some of it better but are there any negatives in that scenario - or am I missing something!?
bit of a short sighted attitude that mate, they are only fighters, looking to fight through their own tickets!
Yeah, your missing the point that Irish boxing is dog eat dog and f..k the competition. Most likely members from Team Hyland are smirking and laughing up their sleeve at the collapse of the Galway show, instead of commiserating that another Irish professional boxing show failed to get off the ground.
Is it, well last I heard it was a sport. But to go with your business argument. Is it not better for the sport in Ireland that the show in Galway had have taken place and been a success. Because when promotions fail, and arenas only half fill, it is bad for business and creates a bad impression to potential further customers [ paying audience].
I know that Ardy, but that only further emphasises the point. When Galway was looking like it was going tits up they were quick enough to snaffle Eade onto the show. So when the show was cancelled why not swoop and pick up the biggest ticket sellers on the show for your own show. Double whammy!
Its a business and a sport. Of course its better for the sport in Ireland if the galway bill was a success. But its failure doesnt matter to those running the hyland show as long as they get their money
Yeah I was being sarky slappie. I was just a bit pissed with Adams attitude, but more so with the robbery of young Conlon and Nevin.:verysad I'm in a bit of a mood now, the dummy has been well and truly spat out.:nut
think your way off the mark there mate Paddy knows what its like to be knocked in this game and couldnt see him laughing at anybody after all he added Finbar Eade when they asked but on less you want to be in the stadium till after 12oc at night dont know what they can do
As long as the Haughian card stays in tact I will be happy enough, I have persuaded three family members to go including my Da who hasnt been to a show since the days of McGuigan.
