Sutherlandis the only one I have seen on the irish team, can't wait to see him again. Fights like a true irishman, with his heart. And can he hit!

When you look at the performance of the rest of the Irish Olympics team in Beijing it puts into perspective the achievement of the boxers. Outside of the boxing arena results to date have been very poor, especially in track and field.
John Joe Joyce missed out on a quarter final spot by the skin of his teeth (his opponent later winning a medal) and we have 3 other boxers fighting for medals in the next couple of days. The mainstream radio have cottoned on to it. Already this morning I heard on RTE radio that they will be checking later in the program how our 'successful boxing team' are doing in Beijing.

These olympics should prove a shot in the arm for amateur boxing in Ireland.

Fra, I think Egan will win at least bronze, Barnes fight against the pole is 50-50, and Sutherland is up against it, but has a punchers chance.

Thanks Ardy, I can't wait for the outcome of these fights to come. But as you know they dont score the punch that flattens guys....? Irishmen like to fight, and need to be reinchecked to settle into boxing. But hell, as a pro, Sutherland will be a crowd drawer. As tough as nails. :good
