Irish Boxing

The Breaffy is a shambles and (despite not having missed any of Bernards fights since he came home) I won't be going to another fight there.

The venue itself isn't great. Very small and pokey. Restricted views in most places and the seating wasn't on an incline. The four rows (and there may have been more) around where I was were all double sold. I was hassled on numerous occasions by security to get up out of my (€120 I think it was) seat because I was in someone elses place. Despite having my ticket with the same seat number on it one of them wanted to **** me out of the place but lucky enough I know a few of the lads involved with running the events so I just called over one of them who happend to near where I was and he put the big gorilla back in his place. Unfortunately some other punters weren't as fortunate as myself and got ****ed out of their places even though they had legitimate tickets.

Then there was the Breaffy Sports Hotel where I stayed. I'd been working all week and had driven from Dublin at around 5pm to get there. Got into the place and there was no electricty and no hot water! Went downstairs to get something to eat in the bistro. I was told no food would be served there. So I was told go to the bar and I'd get food there. Went to the bar no food on offer there. I was told go to the other hotel and the front. Went to the restaurant was told I couldn't get anything there. Went back to my room and rang room service only to be told there was none. I couldn't even spin into Castlebar to get something because the car park was packed and I never would have got back in.

Now I know at this stage I sound like a hungry ****er but I'd been up since 8am and left straight for Breaffy from where I was working. So by the time I got there I was looking forward to a shower and a bite to eat before I went in to watch the card. What I got was no electricty, no hot water and nowhere to get something to eat. The reason i was told none of these were available was that the hotel 'isn't equipped to deal with this many people'. After paying €150 for one night in the place I expected a bit more than that. They did manage to sort out the electricity in the room by the time I got back after the fight but the whole thing was an absolute nightmare so my advice is heed those warnings if you are thinking of heading to any big fight there!

Yeah and to make it worse the walls in the place were paper thin and I had to listen to some slapper in the next room getting double teamed all night! I kid you not!

i just read on the Star that Kenny Egan was brought over to the Mosely vs Mayorga fight on saturday by Shelley Finkel, he was acting on behalf of Golden boy promotions. he also met Lou DiBella and al hayman Mayweathers manager.

two fights are supposed to be lined up for his pro debut.one is on the undercard of Jones vs Calzaghe and the other on the undercard of Duddy vs Hearns.

 

Sound's like egan is destined for the big time. He should turn pro now in my opionin.

Egan and Sutherland should both turn pro, and make a few bob out of there medals.

 

I doubt Egan will cut the mustard as a pro. I just don't think he'll be suited to it. I don't think he has the right style or nessecary power.

I think Sutherland would do quite well and could probably get up to EBU level.

 

You could be right there. Both are also a bit old to be turning professional, so they both need to get a move on, and decide what there doing. A few have indicated that Sutherland will be joining the Hayemaker stable.
