m8 hearn wont risk these fiters on dublin shows.... the beauty about macklin was he attracted support from britain and ireland and was a recongised name on sky... the irish boxers u listed have no fanbase in skysports at all... its going to be hard for hearn to get involved with shows in dublin after macklins defeat.

how many tickets were sold last nite:think:good

Macklin and Lee are light years ahead of anything we have coming through. I wouldn't be getting all giddy on the back of last night.

The 'atmosphere' was shite. Just a load of pissed up scumbags without a clue about what they were looking at. It was like a night out at the darts in Citywest.

However Spike absolutely starching that muppet made it all worthwhile. Hilariously satisfying.

A very sad night for Macklin and ***an though. It's hard to watch genuinely good lads and game fighters when they've gone over the hill. You get very brutally exposed in this game.

As if there were only two great performances from Irish fighters? Tommy McCarthy looked good as did Luke Keeler.

It was one of Fitzy's fans. And just walked away not a bother. No one tried to stop him walking away.

It was Spikes stool. The red corner one. One of Fitzys fans just walked over and threw it.

Sad to see Macklin beaten last night, but looking at the IFL interview with him afterwards there was a real sense of him going out on his shield. He actually seemed quite okay with it, almost like Hatton after Senchenko, kinda like a feeling of closure to his career at World Level (and maybe entirely).

Also, after 5 years without big time boxing in Dublin, it could be a similar amount of time til we see it here again. Impression I was getting from the papers was that Hearn wasn't making too much, if any, money on the night with 'only' 5,000 being in attendance. It was like the night was an investment and if Macklin had won it would've been a real money spinner with the full houses that would've come about from it. I doubt Hearn'll want to take a risk with Dublin again anytime soon.

That said, purely hypothetically, there are plenty of Irish fights and fighters that together would make it possible to have a big night here in 2015 if Hearn, or anyone, was willing to take a risk again.

Andy Lee: Two avenues that Lee could go down,
    1) If he beats Korobov it sets him up to have a nice voluntary defence in Dublin.
    2) If he loses to Korobov he should fight Macklin, one final big fight and pay day for the two of them.

Luke Keeler: Possibly the biggest winner out of last night. KOing Boulden in the 1st got Eddie Hearn's attention considering it took Ogogo 5 to get him out of there (From Hearn's twitter last night: @EddieHearn - 24 hours ago
Think I just saw a little star in the making - well done @luke_keeler). Keeler against Fitzgerald would be a great fight, Dublin Derby and all that. Could be for an Irish title

Spike O'Sullivan: May have propelled himself into the Matchroom middleweight mix with the KO last night. If Hearn doesn't bring him across to the UK he would generate some interest here. Although, saying that, I can see his next fight being a homecoming style one in Cork. Ryder seems like a good opponent, plenty of others though, McEwan, Khomistky, Mendy, Yebes. O'Kane is another but if that were to happen I'd say it'd be on the Frampton-Avalos undercard.

Declan Geraghty- Jono Carroll: Fight of the night last night while it lasted, would be good to see them go at it again over 6 or 8. Dublin Derby again. Seems to be a bit of needle between the two of them too and, after Spike-Fitz, we saw the atmosphere and interest that that can create.

Michael Sweeney - Ian Tims: Unfortunate not to be on last night, there would still be interest in this next year if Tims can recover from the ankle injury. Again, bit of needle between them.

John Joe Nevin: Got a good reception last night, recognisable name too, keep the interest of more casual fans. Keep fighting reguarly and developing in the US then come back, á la Dunne, for a Celtic Title or something like that.

Jason Quigley: If Golden Boy would allow him of course, although by the sounds of it they aren't complete against the idea of him doing the occasional Dublin undercard. Would get a similar amount of interest and reception as JJN got last night.

Patrick Hyland - Willy Casey: Could be a great fight to make, include the angle of Casey having beaten Pajo's brother. Also gives Casey one more chance to propel himself into big fights. Or, as leighton has said, Josh Warrington is another option for Hyland if Hearn is involved.

Stephen Ormond: If he beats Flanagan there is the chance that a WBO eliminator/Intercontinental fight could be made. WBO Intercontinental Champ is Crolla but he's now going down the WBA route so there is a gap appearing in the organisation.

Tommy McCarthy: Good performance last night. So so so so much potential. Put him in with Moses Matovu in a 6 rounder, if he can take him out people in boxing circles will really start to sit up and take notice.

Ryan Burnett: Exciting prospect, and now he's with Booth, any hypothetical Lee bouts over here could see him involved. Amateur pedigree would get many interested from the off.

And in terms of potential for excitement and KOs, Phil Sutcliffe Jr and Sean Turner are great for any show. Good characters too.

Then there are plenty of boxers around that will bring bring a bus load or two up with them to pad any potential cards (Whitehouse, Maguire, Collins Jnr, McDonagh, Rea, Donnelan, Cruise, Long)

Obviously this is all pure pie-in-the-sky speculation and the chances of another show in the Point/02/3arena anytime soon are slim to none but it's interesting to think about. Personally I feel that there would have been very few Macklin 'fans' there, he's not a Dunne or a Frampton. With this lack of a viable Dublin superstar it's all about the card, there was a good mix last night. Get a stacked card, few grudge matches (Spike-Fitz was when the crowd was at its loudest last night), and people will attend.

*Was looking at this from a purely Dublin-centric point of view so I've left out the fighters who are tied up with Cyclone and/or are unlikely to fight/generate interest in Dublin (Frampton, Kavanagh, Cummings, McShane, Conlan, Tennyson, McCullogh)

    @joejoe

just a couple of points on your post....I think moses would only do a 4 rounder there.....and..last night I met a load of people from birmingham for macklin and pockets of them all over the place..I was commenting to my mate that there must have been bus loads over.

Fra I know that those fights wont happen here. Saying that they could well happen over there in the UK I am guessing all the Irish lads that boxed well last night would be in contention to get onto some of the Matchroom shows. Who knows what will happen but Irish boxing will explode on the pro scene again some good fighters about and hopefully we will see more regular fights in Dublin even if it was once every 6 months be great. Now dont forget Matchroom came to Dublin whats stopping McGugian from holding a show in Dublin or ******. IF Ormond wins his next fight would make sense in getting him fighting in Dublin and in the stadium at least but who knows what will happen.
