It should be a santa cruz win,he has fought better competition and had better results but there is always that Irish craziness, We tend not to care about odds and love being the underdogs, Head versus heart on this one guys,
I know. I'm trying to be optimistic about this one. If Carl's stamina and chin hold up he has a chance here. An interesting scenario is is Carl hurts LSC early, does he risk emptying his tank going for a stoppage...or does he hold off, let Leo off the hook and have him come back at him later??? It could happen like that, LSC isn't impossible to hit and Carl can hit hard, especially early on when he is fresh.
When Carls fresh. I think Carl should be more fresh up in weight and I dont think stamina should play much in this division compared to Super Bamtamweight for me. I think Carl has every chance in this. No way is LSC a short price favourite as some bookies have it. Carl is in a 50/50 fight. It can go either way. Just think Carls boxing off the back foot will be key and this could win Carl the fight. I be looking forward to weigh in and see how big each guy looks on the scales. Should be a great night for Irish boxing. To see Carl and Hyland v Warrington on earlier in the night I think Irish boxing will be smiling on Saturday night. Think Hyland will do extremely well might get caught out on the cards as he has to win the rounds big. No one is going to win that fight by KO.
I think lsc was in more trouble against Kiki than people realise. That was prob a legit knockdown for me from the previous right hand but the ref didn't call it. Kiko fought a brainless one dimensional fight and he had lsc rattled a bit. Carl should be able to go one better. Don't rule him out.
Even in the states it seems to be going under the radar a bit, Maybe they dont see Carl as the star we do,either way the fights on and we will soon find out, I believe Carl will try stand a bit with LSC at the start then it will be quantity versus quality, If its going ok Carl can stay there and control if not he has the boxing skills to go on the backfoot and try pick Santa Cruz with the right hand, Either way ,it will come to can Carl land enough heavy shots to nulify LSCs very busy style, It will be interesting to see who the officials are also? American judges tend to favour the busier fighter and a ref that will leave Carl tie up his man a bit on the inside would also be helpful.
Just heard Pajo came in 2.25 pounds over the weight and has 2 hours to drop it, Thats a lot to lose on weigh in day when you are usually weight drained and dehydrated.
Frampton is going to have to get everything spot on to win. He will have to be tough and he will need luck. To get the win from the judges he probably needs to visibly hurt LSC at times throughout the fight. If he doesn't hurt LSC it is likely that close rounds will go to Santa Cruz.....his high-workrate style is very "judge-friendly" and no one can match him for punch output. Fair dues to Carl for going over there and taking this guy on. All in all its a very big ask. But Frampton is due a star quality performance, and this just might be one of those nights...here's hoping! Carl will have to get his jab going like a piston ftom the start. His footwork and timing and accuracy will have to be razor sharp. He will have to be a bit rough even dirty on the inside with plenty of clubbing rights round the back of the head to rattle and unsettle Leo. To get Leo's respect and catch the judges eye he will have to be hitting harder than ever before, and will need to visibly hurt Leo more than once, probably multiple times throughout the fight. Also of course luck plays a major part....avoiding injuries like a hurt hand or a cut eye....having judges who like what he is doing in there so he gets credit for his work etc. A big ask, but Carl just might be mentally and physically tough enough to pull it off.
Lads, I'm a stupid Yank from New York, and I'm going to the Frampton fight in Brooklyn tomorrow with the wife who's from Ulaidh. Can't wait, bhoys. FRAMPTON ABU!!
Totally agree he could also do with a more experience trainer in his corner for this one,They have got away with a lot because of Carls talents, tomorrow may well be the big test of Shane as well as Carl,
