Billy Walsh will be back in the Irish setup for the next olympics. Put money on it. It's not a fluke that our all conquering boxing team has gone into meltdown without him. The people who caused us to lose him should be sacked and their salaries put into a pool to make billy an offer he can't refuse.

 

Maybe it's time to review our over-reliance on travellers in the team?

 

Thought he was shocking,when the commentator didn't say about the warnings I thought he got away with it,better off if they had Miriam o Callaghan.

Paddys weight was a big kck in the teeth the fact Billy Walsh arranged for him not to have to make weight in the wsb should have put off huge alarm bells,
The o reilly saga was another kick to the team morale I don't care how much they say it wasn't,
For the record I felt Barnes did enough to win his fight but weight drained would not have beaten the Colombian,I felt Joe didn't win and wouldn't have beaten the french lad anyway,I felt DOJ boxed to the fullest of his ability and should be congratulated,
I also predict Stephen Donnelly will get us back on track tonight,

 

Like puca I actually did think Barnes nicked it...but he was going nowhere even if he got the nod. Ward might have got the nod too....but you can't be barely skraping through in there .....in big tournaments you have to be putting it beyond any doubt. Barnes weight fiasco s very very worrying regarding the standard of team management we have.
I predict billy Walsh will be back.

 

Regarding the oreilly test result....we STILL ..shamefully ....haven't been told what he took. But if it turns out to be a drug to aid weight-cutting then it falls into further question the calibre of team management. IF it was such a drug, why did oreilly need to take it if there was a proper elite level weight management program in place?

 

Management can't hold them by the hand,he knows what he can take and what he can't,seems to be a bit of a tit,no sympathy on this side.

 

Would be near certain that it's not that, O'Reilly is miles inside the weight limit for middleweight and probably could do welter if he trained like an animal

He has form for going legal and winning. At this stage I'm rooting for him rather than the sports quango.....
