You've got it all wrong puca. Rumour and innuendo trumps calm reasoning every time! 😀

Indeed why let something as insignificant as the truth get in the way of a good rumour ha ha
Seriously thought katie won that three rounds to one,but this whole team looks overtrained,
Five training camps in a row before the games looks to be coming back to bite them,
First they were in Aze,then kaz were here followed by France then Russia, finally three week camp in Brazil all in the last eight weeks

Yep ..she lost the second. Won 3-1. But these days she isn't putting it beyond doubt. By leaving it close you leave yourself open to being robbed. I know it "shouldn't" happen but....
Aggression has scored big over skills in these olympics.....even ineffective aggression, sadly.

Crazy how this was allowed through WSB! But I guess you got to take any opportunity. Supposedly Paddy was 59kg a few weeks before Rio

QUOTE=lencoreastside;18122757] Now I'm told oreilly wasn't even with the team for 8 weeks beforehand. Is this true?
How was he even allowed to travel without a clean test?
Every day something new gets added to the " how was this allowed to happen?" List.
Im very disappointed with the team management in Rio.[/QUOTE]

All the Irish team are lectured on banned substances. John Conlan is a high performance coach and would have drilled it into the camp over what "not" to take. I can understand why the team are upset as the rest of the team were clean. There's obviously more to this story. I'm waiting on O'Reilly's statement

If there ever was a case of " cheated not defeated" conlon is it.

Time for the countries that have been robbed to get together.

Maybe even time to pull boxing from the Olympics altogether until the corruption gets sorted out.

Besides Conlan, who else do you think got robbed? IMO the Irish team came out flat and didn't perform.

I broadly agree. Conlan was a robbery. Ward underperformed but still should have won and would have done but for the refereeing (not the judging which was accurate). The rest were either solidly beaten or at worst had a close fight given against them.

It's important the irish boxing team management and the whole Irish Olympic approach to boxing management in general by the various quangos involved , do not get to hide behind the conlon and Katie robberies. They have to be held to account for the big picture failures here. Even if conlon won gold you can't gloss over all the bad mistakes made.

conlon robbed, aiba should be shut down
o reilly ****ed up, very unprofessional
ward underperformed, wasn't in the game. still wrongly got 2 public warnings
barnes was at the wrong weight, was very tired
katie taylor had a bad ref, could have won but a close decision
    donnelly did great
irvine only a young kid facing one of the best, didn't expect much from him
oliver joyce lost to a great boxer in selimov

No one can go and say why some boxers lost, we don't know what's going on in the gym. We can't go accusing things like billy walsh's absence

michael conlon won that fight in any mans eyes. if you think different then sorry i don't know what to say... it's obvious corruption in aiba

he will have a great pro career and we will back him wherever he goes, because thats what the irish do. we support our boxers in victory or defeat.

Agree. A few of our boxers lost close fights but were by no means robberies. Taylor and ward did not perform any were near their best . Its there own fault. Conlans was a blatant robbery.

Some good news at last. Quango queen Hickey arrested in Rio. He might be an untouchable God here in Knackeragua...but to the Brazil cops he's just another suspect!
