Thanks for the compliment Dutchie! How I look at it is this: We - the Irish people, have allowed our society to be flooded with drugs. Nasty horrible thing, drug use, I know. But we live in a democracy - and democracy doesnt give people the society they want - it gives 'em the one they deserve! We Irish are getting what we deserve. So along with all its other failings, our country is, and will continue to be, awash with drugs and the filthy carnage that flows from it. Its a fact that there is an insatiable demand for drugs in our society, and an unlimited supply. The best we can hope for is that some good comes from this filthy business. If it gets channeled into boxers then that's probably the very best we can hope for. Also, remember Irish society - and particularly the various branches of our media and 'justice' system - is corrupt and rotten to the core. Many wealthy and powerful vested interests stand to gain and profit greatly from creating fear around the 'evil monster drug baron Kinahans'. What is Daniel Kinahan proven to be guilty of? What has he been convicted of? All I'm saying is - lets not rush to judgement, we need to be careful here, ok? Don't get me wrong - I'm disappointed that so many of our boxers are people of such low standards that they put personal profit ahead of principal. But so are all other Irish people - in all walks of life. Its just the way we Irish are. We are not people of low standards - we are people of no standards!
But you just said in your very last post that you think boxers accepting drug money is "pretty positive for Irish boxing". So in a way you just made my point for me. Anyway I wasn't referring to you...I was talking about Irish people.
All social standards aside guys,do we think we Irish have a boxer that will box for and win a legit world title before the end of 2017, IMO Ryan Burnett is closest but although im a fan and like his style i just wonder is the lack of pop of late going to be a negative factor at the very highest level? Anyone else there or there abouts,
It's true about his lack of pop. Also don't forger the competition is hot around his weight. Just in the British Isles alone there is very good talent....Haskins. McDonnell, butler, Yafai, tete is with warren too I think, etc etc
well on that premise it isnt really an Irish problem... as as most og MGM boxers on this island r from the north...and it appears for the time being their shows will only be held in belfast.... so it doesnt really effect you
Good comeback! Its ridiculous that MGM cant hold an event here. (Can you believe our police are so incompetent they cant maintain security at even a relatively minor event, such as a perfectly legal boxing show, with at most a few thousand in attendance.) But what about Puca's question - do you think Burnett (another top guy from the north) can/will go all the way? What about his lack of pop?
think burnetts lack of physical strength will be the undoing of him.... unless booth has a plan that he wants to see burnett getting a llot of rounnds under his belt
yeah he had great boxing ability alright, tends to try brawl a little too much for my liking though, that could be is undoing, dont get me wrong im a fan but just wonder can he take that big final step
paddy Gallagher and tommy McCarthy tough fights in England this weekend. Anyone have a view on these fights???
Moorser you still haven't explained yourself. Also have you seen Andrew selby? Flyweight is no safe haven for Barnes. Selby beats him easy.
