OK heres my 2 cents worth. Trundling forward GGG is unbeatable. To beat GGG, Canelo will have to force him back. To force him back Canelo wil have to throw blazingly fast combinations - including a serious body attack.....all the while avoiding whats going to be coming back from GGG and keep this up round after round. IMO this is too big an ask for Canelo. GGG wins this handily unless Canelo fights out of his skin and/or GGG gets old overnight (he is 35 after all). Otherwise its Golovkin for me, all the way.
Just had a mad notion for a dream all-Irish "Combat Sport Event" McGregor V Roy Keane. I havent ironed out the details yet but hey thats just the small print right? Boxing rules? MMA rules? No rules? Think it would sell?
I should explain. He hasnt ruled out Hearn as far as I can see... The way he is going he will have 3 distinct units looking after him. Trainer - Moore Manager - MTK/Macklin Promoter - TBA???? MTK will likely be his MANAGEMENT outfit - not his PROMOTER? I meant go direct with Hearn - of course he can still do business with Hearn, using Macklin as an intermediary. I guess he doesnt want all his eggs in one basket like last time? Or maybe theres a certain mistrust of Hearn still there - and he wants to put a layer - MTK - between himself and Matchroom?? (Although you dont hear boxers complain about poor treatment from Matchroom/Hearn, do you?) Mind you having separate trainer/manager/promoter was the way things were always done in boxing. Maybe its better that way.....prevents any one component of the team from having too much power - maybe???
Is conlon-guzman on tonight? Ive ben a bit underwhwelmed by Conlon as a pro - Im still waiting to be impressed to be honest. But it is very early days......
