ok..lots of rogan threads as you would expect...but i'll ask this here as i'll get the best response here i think..

there's talk of rogan getting a shot of the european title in belfast...if he wins this will he get an automatic world ranking?...and who would be an obvious opponent?...and, whats his chances of getting a world title shot in reality if he did win the european title ?...
i imagine he would be an attractive opponent for a heavyweight champ...i dont imagine he would demand massive bucks...but he would be so easy to market with his 'rocky' story...and that 'rocky' style of fighting is very eye catching...

although...all a smart boxer has to do is stand back and jab and cross him all night to beat him..if he did get matched with the right style opponent who would try and trade with him, he has a chance of winning the euro title and getting that world title shot...

it's all if's and but's...but could the fairy tale happen ??

Hello Doug, I can't see Rogan fighting for the vacant European title in Belfast for the simple reason that most of the best European heavies are based in Germany, and one of these heavies will most likely contest the vacant belt against Martin. The German promoters seem to always outbid their British counterparts when it comes down to purse bids.So Rogie may have to travel to Germany. But there is a strong possibility that Martin could make a defence of the commonwealth title in Belfast[that would be my only hope of seeing him fight in Belfast anytime soon].
As for a world title shot. Anything now seems possible. As you rightly stated with the "Rocky" story and his style of fighting makes him very marketable.
One thing for sure, and that is the Big Rogie brought a lot of smiles to people faces on Saturday night, and did Irish boxing proud.

It's all been said, but what great news about Rogie. I was praying for this one. Haven't seen any vids( tried you tube but just got the presser). But from the descriptions, this was some "go round". This is a gent who comes to fight and leaves it all in the ring, Great stuff. The thing is since he has had so few fights, he is still learning from them. He learned how to "dig deep" in this last one.

Here's hoping that he can stay "youthful" for a good few years yet, and stay very active. He's had so many cancelled fights in the past. He deserves the opportunities for his hard work.

Was rooting for him from the first time I read about him. This is a heavyweight that Ireland can be really proud of, (and he's not even Cuban, but a real honest to goodness Irishman)

Ardy, you must be proud having known him from amateur days.

    Every success "Big Rogie".

    Just keep "refusin to lose"!!!

"it was good. i enjoyed that."

yeah that summed it up for me. ****ing hell. if you don't like that man as a boxer then you have no ****ing soul at all.

it's cliched as **** but he really has a bit of 'everyman' about him. sure we're not all as big and as tough as he is but you know for a fact that he's just another joe soap like me and you. no matter what happens with world title shots or whatever I'll always remember him as one of the boxers that make this game great.

the old phrase 'it's not about the dog in the fight, it's about the fight in the dog' was made for boxers like Rogie and they are few and far between
