Thats true ardy he is only 18 but this experience will bring him on leaps and bounds.2012 in london and this lad will be a great superheavyweight prospect. Speaking of youngsters 2 more jj nevin 18 and ross hickey 20 also are doing great.Of course jj joyce is only 20 aswell but its east to forget that he has being around for so long. That said unless we get at least 3 to the olympics it would be a disaster after all the money that has being pumped into the high performance guys in the last 4 years.
There is an awful lot of anti-duddy threads going around today the duddy v lockett was the stupidiest i've seen in a long time. anyone haue any opinions on the threads?
Just ignore them. There's too many people to argue with and it's a waste of time. Most of them aren't familiar with Duddy anyway, and if they are they've been looking at him negatively for awhile...more than that, some of them seem racist (seem not are).
its just human nature Duddy has a large fan base and seems to be liked by a lot of people so others have to drag him down to make themselves feel better quite sad really. I myself do not think John is ready for a title shot but people calling him talentless and a bum etc need to cop on.He is a top ten boxer but he does need to improve. An assault on a european crown by the end of the year then a fight against Andy Lee for that same title early next year (they both would have had 3 or 4 extra contests by then)Winner boxes for the world title. Excitement all round and enough time for them to learn their trade abit more. PS I expect the anti lee stuff to start soon as too many people are saying too many nice things about him for these same idiots not to give their unimagintive views:nut
these anti duddy threads are a pain....we all know it was a bad performance on sat...nobody here disagreed...but he should maybe fight for the european title before...taking on pavlik
yip...going by one of them articles that ardy posted...they fight tonight...good luck to all the irish in the qualifiers tonight..:bbb :happy
DARK DAY LEAVES DUDDY IN THE DOLDRUMS http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/boxing-dark-day-leaves-duddy-in-doldrums-1300382.html
That is such horrible luck for John. He had already achieved what many boxers from afar can only dream and had become a BIG name here in the states. His fight with Pavlik would have been a barn burner. He will be back though, no way anything can keep John Duddy down. Just a shame he will have to wait to get the kind of payday he RIGHTLY deserves. Here's to John's recouperation and future success. Go John Duddy!!!:good
honestly, saturday night had to be the darkest day being a duddy fan,i always knew that he wasnt perfect but the dank reality is he is only above average according to his last fight, lets hope that with some intense training and a few good fights and please, please a EBU title fight he wil be ready for kelly with improved intelligence.I dont think its a case that he doesnt know how to defend rather than choosing not to,he seems to want to trade no matter of the consequences. Duddy abu. good luck to all the irish boys tonight!
Yeah pipe wrenched, a fight in Ireland against top euro opposition[once the cuts heal] would seem to be John's best options at this time.
John Joe Nevin Irish Bantamweight has beaten Bulgarian 16-15 and now needs to win one more fight to qualify for Beijing. He has 2 chances either win semi-final or if defeated beat other beaten semi-finalist.
Brilliant news, the Bulgarian was favored to win that fight. That's hope the rest of the remaining Irish team can excel tonight.
Got it off Newstalk website - they state that the Bulgarian is European No. 2 - if that is the case then a tremendous victory.
