What a joke. This guy PAID to see the damn fight and is here complaining about it 10 years later. Were you not aware that it was a title fight back then? Should I check back with you when you get your shyt together and can make a better argument than "Superbowl"? LOL.

Thanks for the lesson in quantum physics, my good sir!

 You are clueless bro. This was never about complaints. It's about having title fights allowed at their limits. Start with "Horton hears a Who!" or "Everybody Poops", and gradually move up. You can't read for sh!t!! You're just too stubborn to understand simple English.

And you were too chickensh!t to admit you weren't even alive when SRL v Hearns 2 went on.

I've already thanked you, but you seem as if you are wholly unsatisfied with your "Superbowl" explanation as to why Leonard/Hearns II was somehow different and are compelled to keep embarassing yourself.

Is it because you had no problem paying for Mayweather/Canelo and are trapped in your own contradiction?

It's rather unfortunate, but it's probably best to just be consistent in life and avoid situations such as this...

    ... Thanks again! ;)

If Canelo was green with 40 plus fights, is Julio Cesar Chavez considered green after his first 40 fights?

Why are you persisting with this?

Neither me and Lance are Canelo fanatics.

Neither of us are even saying that the weight made a difference.

We’re just saying that it was wrong that a unification fight, with belts on the line from each fighter, was contested at a C-W.

    That’s all we’re saying.

It was not only wrong, but Canelo wasn’t happy with it either.

It was also a joke when Canelo and Oscar tried to Get Golovkin to go down in weight at MW, despite the fact that that was also a unification fight, and that Canelo was his mandatory.

    It’s a joke.

The whole ‘Canelo weight’ period was a joke.

We’re not fan boys of either guy.

We’re just old school boxing fans who don’t like to see nonsense like that.

There’s no need to have this back and forth with each other.

At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I addressed only his points and ignored every one of his ad hominim attacks.

Thanks for your fair and balanced input.

You didn't really address anything, that's the problem. YOU went in a completely different direction to ANYTHING i was stating.

Bottom line, some think title fights and unifications should be held at the allowable limit. You don't believe that.
You prefer cash cows and the more popular boxer to dictate the weight limit. I don't think that's right.

It's really as simple as that. And you've been on this board since 2012. Surely you recall how most everyone agreed no catchweights for title fights. Were you always against that notion, or what changed you??

I just want to see the fights; if that makes me a casual, so be it. I joined in 2012, but I remained on CHB and posted there.

As I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I have no interest in trying to change yours.

I simply pointed to one historic example of a fight in which the event itself was actually bigger than the belts at stake. I ridiculed your response about "Superbowl" only after initially respectfully pointing out your inconsistency.

I haven't "gone off" on any other topic. It's been you the entire time, listing children's books, calling me illiterate, asking for my birthday, etc... simply because you were called out on your hypocrisy.

You watched SRL/Hearns 2. You paid to see Floyd/Canelo. It doesn't make you any more or less a boxing purist, Lance, but perhaps you jumped on the wrong high horse?

    I'm not petty.

You can get off any time you want.

Fine, you got me on ONE fight 30+ years ago with two of the biggest stars ever in boxing. I'll admit that. You got me with that one fight,
However, you equated Canelo v Floyd as being on the same level as SRL v Hearns due to PPV buys. It was NOT on the same level. That was a poor comparison. People wanted to see SRL v Hearns. People ACCEPTED Floyd v Canelo. Canelo was no where near wher hs is today when he fought Floyd. No where NEAR as popular. We're looking at an entirely different world of boxing today thenit was 30 years ago. Hell, 10-20 years ago as well. The sport has changed, and not necessarily for the better. That's become a big reason it's now a fringe sport. MMA is more popular today than boxing is.

But fine, you simply don't care about stacking in favor of one boxer over another. Some of us are purists. We prefer title fights to be allowed at the limit. Hell, I posted several instances where a smaller guy moved up TWO classes and did not impose a limit.

Floyd did that w/ Canelo for a 154 unification. Canelo and GBP tried to do that with Gennady. You seem fine with those. Fine with a more popular fighter setting the weight limit despite there already being regulated weight limits. Some boxers will agree just for the pay day. Most don't have a choice BUT to agree to a catchweight or limit to get a deserved fight. Other tough it out as I shown.

My apologies for what I said, but you took liberties with what I was posting. I shoulda kept my cool, but we all have out 'limits' (Pun intended...)

You mean two fights, right? I mean... I simply took the most popular example, but these aren't the only two. Anyway...

I don't feel that a fighter with a 15lb weight advantage, a 13 year age advantage, and the favor of the judges (LOL at the majority decision) has the deck stacked against him, but fine. I think that Canelo/GGG at a catch would've been more egregious because Canelo was already rehydrating heavier than GGG and wasn't giving up what Floyd was giving up at 154, where he did not really belong if we are being completely honest.

...But that's neither here nor there. I'd rather just move on.

Get over the weight advantage sh!t, or stop watching and continue complaining. That's a part of boxing. You can't have it both ways. Wanting one fighter to dictate a limit or another simply following the rules established.

Besides, with Mayweather, he DRUG UP JMM two weight classes then did not even try to honor the agreed upon 144 catchweight. He instead paid a penalty last minute. And BTW, did you know for that fight, JMM was not allowed to discuss the 144 limit? It was ONLY advertised as WW title. Never a mention of 144 or even 147. Because had that been the case, it would look bad. THAT is you who are vehemently defending about size.

And Floyd didn't care if Oscar weighed in at 154. But all of a sudden, with Canelo he needed him to weigh 2 pounds less. Make of that what you want. Some prefer a level of consistency. Again, that's who you are defending. A guy who makes and changes the weight and rules as he sees fit.

Okay, so you want to continue with the discourse. Fine.

I find it highly ironic that you are asking me to get over the weight issue when you're the one complaining about it. Floyd whupped his ass. There is absolutely nothing for me to "get over". I am simply stating the reality of someone having a weight advantage that is the equivalent of two weight classes and having people complain that the weight was a disadvantage to him. Thaaat's ******ed.

Floyd was wrong in not honoring the 144lb catchweight against JMM, but the 146 was hardly any less a catchweight than the 152 was for Canelo; it was an acknowledgment that a bigger fighter was fighting a smaller fighter.

I am pretty sure that Floyd cared about Oscar weighing 154 as he attempted to negotiate down to 147. Is this new information to you? Floyd was simply in no bargaining position to make any demands and so went out and did what he had to do. Oscar chose the weight, the ring size, the gloves, etc, but Floyd didn't ***** about it.

Oscar's size bothered him in that fight. No question. Floyd was the much smaller man in the ring because he is NOT a JMW. Sorry.
