It's true that Minter could never have beaten Hagler,but he could've made it go on longer if he hadn't been drawn in,i think momentarily hurting Hagler in round 2 made him get carried away.He was clearly a superior champion to Antuefermo who he beat twice,giving him a shellacking in the 2nd fight.

 

Pavlik is the worst, for skills and resume.

He defended the titles against Espino, Lockett and Rubio and then lost them to a 154lber.

 

Antuefermo was a decent fighter, he gave Hagler all he could handle in their first fight.

Minter was no ATG don't get me wrong, but Taylor and Pavlik are amongst the worst I've seen for application of skillset in the past few years.

Hopkins performed well against both considering his age. I'd tend tonthink if Hop had struggled with them closer to his physical peak none of us would rate him as highly as we do. The fact he terrorised Pavlik pretty much makes up for him losing to someone with as many glaring problems as Jermain has. The middleweight Berto. Dre will go the same way as Taylor too.

 

he had pretty poor technique. but he knew what he was doing. guys like joppy for example had perfect punching technique but never threw a punch in anger.

just because he relied on strength and looked to create a tear up didn't mean that he was 1 dimensional. jermain taylor might have a great jab and move style but he was more 1 dimensional in that he never adapted.
