One thing must be made clear here, where as Lewis rematched McCall and beat those demons, Khan must never cross paths with this man again, he will never beat a man like that unless his style and approach takes a complete U turn.. Its just a fact .....
but you are talking abou fights at top of the tree for titles, Khan was destroyed by a guy who was not even top 50
You can get to the top of the tree and fight for those titles by avoiding blind risks.. Prescott was someone they knew little about , and could have just moved foreward against something maybe far better ranking wise yet far beatable style wise.. Prescott and Khan may have met down the road for a championship some day, the risks should not be taken blind with someone in such a great position as Khan was in.. You dont fight a man of such low ranking, when you have a lot more offers than the high risk blind one.. Take lower risk fights that are often far easier to beat style wise , who may be far higher ranked.......... Build bridges forward, dont drown in dangerous waters to go sideways.. It makes no sense at all..
He's done, surely. He can improve his defence all he wants but the fact is at some point he'll still be getting hit, and if it's against anyone with any sort of power it's game over. I know he's a bit of a dick but feel quite sorry for the kid.
Khan can no longer lie to himself, this is an absolute cross roads to him. I suspect the fact he has to recognise he has a MAJOR problem will ruin him, but there is a chance he could use this as an opportunity to address the problem and rebuild. I don't see the latter but I'd ne impressed with him if he did.
IMO khan will win a world title and be a champ at some point in his career. he has superb speed and great offensive skills. everybody in this whole thread is jumping on the bandwagon and say9ing he will never be the same again and will never be a world champ because he was ko`d in this fight. IMO khan could have already been a world champ if the gavin rees match was made and with his backing i am positive over the next 10 years he will either win or get many oppurtunities to have world title fights. so many on this board are so quick to write of fighters. is he done as a bonafide superstar cabable of ruling a weight class for a long time. IMO yes to many flaws. is he done and will never win a world title IMO no, i am pretty sure he will. riddick bowe was knocked the **** out when he was in his 20`s by julio gonzales about 7 years later he knocked the **** out of the same fighter. with age you normally improve and settle down unless your name is mike tyson and 100,`s of fighters with poor chins have won world titles and khan has the skill if he boxes right to hardly get touched in a fight if his mindset and gameplan was right. 21 is very very young to be writing a boxers whole career off especially a fighter as talented as khan. to many people jumping on bandwagon`s on esb whether it be to hype or to hate.
Unless the loss did something mentally that Khan can't overcome than no he's not ruined. Will he ever be a top pfp fighter that some thought he might be? I doubt it, his chin is awful and will fail him more often than not against elite fighters. But Khan is an excellent offensive fighter and will be hell for anyone who doesn't have some power. With a few improvements defensively and the right match making Khan can still be a serious threat at 135 or 140. I won't write him off at all but I will alter my expectations of him.
It's bloody laughable that some people think that he's gonna spend some time in the gym, working on his defense and his neck muscles (!?), change his diet, drink more Red Bull and come back to rule the world!! He's another Warren hypejob and he's finished. I admit, he was a fine amateur but this is a different game altogether. Ask him.
Lets be honest - this was always going to happen, he is a total hype job, his attitude stinks and being charged the best part of £15 when he is nowhere near a world title has come back to bite Khan, Warren and Sky!
Schadenfreude is a wonderful, wonderful thing, isn't it? Yes it is. I love it. Amir Khan let it all go to his head. In his defence, he had to try and deal with a lot more than most. He was a gifted and successful amateur boxer who hit the public imagination at just the right time. Anglo-islamic relations were in the **** over Iraq and a young poster boy like Khan was exactly what was needed. He had the attention & the acclaim before he ever set foot in a pro ring. The expectations were immense, and then along came Warren with the money to match. That's an awful lot for a kid to handle. And he couldn't handle it. Khan couldn't cope with it all. He let it go to his head. He got cocky, he started believing his own press, being disrespectful and now he's had his comeuppance. He deserves to be laughed at and he deserves the humiliation. However, hopefully he will learn from this, both as a boxer and as a man. Maybe the humble and nice kid who was there at the start will come back and if he does I'll be cheering for him again. Watching the fight, the first jab looked like nothing to me. Khan was caught in midstep, just readjusted his feet and came back in. The shot to the temple did all the damage. Khan was staggered by that and Prescott jumped in with a sweet left and right to drop him. It should have been stopped then. After that it was just gravy.
