Is Andre Ward outpointing Arthur Abraham just a foregone conclusion at this stage?

What sort of mental state willl AA be for this fight? It must be horrible, he just couldnt do jack all against a fairly limited froch, ward is faster and has more angles than froch and even when AA did land on dirrell and froch he was ineffective, he needs to really land flush on ward and i cant see that happening and if he sees groundhog day happening again he may just turn to despair, his face at the end of the froch fight was a picture of dispair, hes a retirement waiting to happen

I see a wide UD for Ward, but there is a .0001% chance AA will win by KO.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

So, exactly how much crack did you smoke before typing up this post? You may need medical attention.

To compare Abraham's mentality to that of Rios...:lol:

Abraham is one of the least bloodthirsty "KO artists" of all time. He generally has no intention of ripping anyone's head off until very deep into the fight when the victim's legs have gone. He is more scavenger than predator - more vulture than lion. Abraham doesn't like to work for anything, let alone walk through punches to land his own. He is almost the polar OPPOSITE of Rios.

Ward showed more of a fighter's mentality in his last two fights than Abraham has in his whole career combined (except maybe the 1st Miranda fight...in which his corner had to spur him on when he wanted to quit. :deal)

Not my cup of tea. I have been watching boxing for more than 30 years and I never gravitate to the sweet science. Even SRL did not take this science to this extreme.

Fighters are paid to take risk, not to run from it. Today's crop are happy to win postshotting even if faced with vastly inferior opponent.

After a day's work, I don't want to analyse how a fighter won. It is afterall still entertainment.

It is yours though and hats off to you.

    Preference my friend. Nothing personal.

You might have enjoyed the Bradley-Alexander fight, I did not.

I just don't want to watch fight where you start analyzing that "fighter A should have put his lead foot outside of fighter B, and threw left hook first, then a straight right" because the opponent is susceptible to that kind of movement. Too mental!!!!!!

After the fight, ESB will end up with discussion on who actually won the fight ad libitum.

Have you ever seen an Arthur Abraham fight where he was exciting and aggressive from start to finish? Hell, have you ever seen one where he was for even the majority of rounds?

That wasn't sweet science, that was halfhearted garbage. And if you don't want the mental stuff and wanna see people slug it out, go watch bad MMA standup or something,or club fighters. Boxing is a thinking man's game. always has been.

Based on the Dirrell and Froch fights I do not think AA carried his power up with him very well. He did not hurt Dirrell untii the DQ punch, and he did not hurt Froch at all.

Don't be surprised if Ward pins Abraham against the ropes and destroys him on the inside like he did Green. Abraham has no inside game at all. He likes to fight at mid-range so he can get leverage on his punches but Ward will smoother and neutralize his power on the inside. Abraham without power = a very mediocre fighter. He might quit at some point if this happens.

There are other fighters who does their thing without sapping the energy of the one's who are watching. I am sure you never experience this when watching a fight (like you want to jump on the TV and show the idiots how it is done).

Cotto, Margarito, Donaire, even Rios in his limited capacity, Pac, even Rigondeaux, JMM, EM, MAB, Maidana, etc. do not go to this extreme of so much "sweet science" or whatever term that thing they are doing on top of the ring. ATG must be turning on their graves everytime someone mentions "sweet science".

I used to watch Mayweather until he fought Baldomir. Pre-Baldomir, Floyd was more offensive minded, more risk taker, more offensive minded. Baldomir fight just did it for me. He faced an overmatched opponent, who was eating all the punches he was throwing, and he did a bicycle run on him? WTF especially when the other option is actually Margarito. Plus Baldomir is not exactly a puncher that Floyd needs to worry about.

Which is also why I already knew the outcome of the Pac-Clottey fight months before the fight happened. Defensive fighters are so predictable. No excitement factor - UNANIMOUS DECISION.

Fighters who go to fight to take your head off either win the fight spectacularly or loss spectacularly too. Now,
    This content is protected
    - see- Montiel-Donaire if you don't get my drift. Now that is what I call entertainment.

At the end of the day, it is still entertainment, not a chess match.

BTW, I also watch MMA and UFC. I don't see any conflict at all. The skill needed is different from boxing but definitely, there is still skill involved.

"Fairly limited Froch"? Have the Brits seen this yet or are they sleeping?

In all fairness though, you're right - Ward has better handspeed than Froch. More angles however... I don't think so. In this AA fight anyway, I don't think Ward's lateral movement -involving a reload- will be up there with Froch's [when he fought Abraham]. As to AA landing flush on Ward, I see it happen a couple times i.e. whenever Ward will be too lazy to withdraw from AA-friendly range after a 1-2 or even after the clinch. However he'll adapt and wake the **** up, so to either stay comfortably in the pocket grinding AA up (no homo) or use the outside to time AA coming in with the high guard for big body shots... might even use uppercuts to go for the kill. That's what Hershman wants to see. What he doesn't wanna see is AA getting angry, mixing anger & desperation, and walk through Ward's jab to land say.. 2 monster hooks (a.k.a. Abrahammers) that will test Ward's chin. Let's see if "G" can help you out if this happens, my Son. :D
