Is Andre Ward overrated by any means?

no he was dropped legitimately and had a point taken..Was it a knockdown or a trip, make your mind up

 

How did he gain 2 points for the knockdown ???

I don't think Wards ref would score it a knockdown if it weren't a knockdown....pmsl

 

if ward was an exciting fighter to watch, i'll bet nobody would consider him overrated. however, a fighter's excitement value has nothing to do with their ability in the ring!
considering ward's resume it's pretty hard to argue against his pedigree

 

I try to be fair and reasonable on the site and in real life. So here goes:

Obviously Ward is legit. Timing, distance, footwork, skills. Hard work. He has balls. There's a reason he won gold in 04.

What I don't like are his tactics in tough fights. Kessler, Froch, and Kovalev. Ward fouled the hell out of Kovalev and those that don't want to admit that are being biased towards their dude. I've seen plenty of phone booth inside fights that don't involve the heavy hugging mugging and clinching. Plus he uses his head as a damn weapon.

Slightly overrated

 

I'm not a fan of Ward but you can't knock him, he always finds ways to win and that is a sign of a great fighter.

His resume is solid, it can't really be criticised and if he beats Kovalev again and wins convincingly then it just enhances it.

I wouldn't say he is overrated but I would say he isn't as good as some make out, he isn't an ATG in my opinion, he is a very talented fighter.

honest opinion. ward is not overated. he can do many things good in the ring. if he had power he would be p4p nnumber 1 easy.

why ppl could see him overrated. well his dirty tactics. he exploits holes in the boxing game. i see that as a good thing tho. he doesn't have power so this makes up for it. an also he had so many fight in oakland it gets a little old. he needs to fight on neutral ground more often

 

the one i realized was overrated after the first fight was Kovalev not ward

 

That fight proved both heavily over rated. I believe we'll be proven slightly wrong with kovalev, once he destroys ward he'll be back as p4p top 10 material.
