-lol your flowerly choice of words isn't really fooling me. Collazo never known for his power or that highly regarded is suddenly a big WW Champion who only buzzed Hatton. While Paul "THE WEAKEST PUNCHER IN BOXING" almost had him out.

-Mayweather and Pacman were both disasterous for him but for different reasons.

-And his alcoholism didn't effect his career until Pacman..how convenient. His infamous blow ups inbetween fights go back to the beginning of his career.

Is it your time of the month or something, I never said Paulie nearly had him out, I said Lazcano nearly had him out and he did, did you watch the video I posted?

Notice I said Pacquaio probably beats any version of Hatton and picked Pacquaio to dominate Hatton at the time, picked him to dominate Cotto/Marg and I rate him above Henry Armstrong so I'm hardly a Pacquaio hater

And yes if you knew anything about alcoholism you'd know it gets worse over time as the drinker seeks more and more alcohol to get their hit.

Either way the only time he ever missed a weigh in weight and struggled to make weight was against Pacquaio

Personally I always thought Manny would have some issues with a clinch and maul style...But I guess a come forward fighter with minimal head movement is something he eats right up

-You said he was nearly out against Lazcano and Paulie. Reread your own posts.

-You could use the same excuse for the Mayweather fight, where Hatton's stamina clearly was more of an issue. Hell, they were saying that after the b2b ugly performances against Collazo and Urango.

-I don't see any case for Hatton being damaged goods or on any kind of decline. He just started to struggle as the competition went up and his limitations became more apparent and Paul oddly enough might be his most impressive win against a live world ranked contender. He was always a fighter of questionable dedication and got busted up/stunned quite a few times prior to Mayweather and after.

There's a difference between alchoholism and binge drinking.

Yes but I certainly think the second can lead to the first. And in Hatton's case certainly looks to be an alcoholic now

Fair enough fella we'll agree to differ, I do think Pac beats Ricky regardless anyway, but imo Hatton wasn't the best version, full credit for Pac for the win, its an excellent 1.

BTW you were dead wrong with the Valdez and Rudduck comparison though, just wanted to say that as I never got round to replying in the thread :D

-I give full credit to Mayweather and Pacman.

-I know, Valdez actually used his jab.

True, but i don't see how that's relevant. I don't think Hatton needed a drink every day when he was boxing, because that's what an alchoholic is, you don't even need to be smashed to be an achoholic, if you're feeling the need to just have one glass of wine a day you qualify. Hatton was a binge drinker from what was documented, he was just getting blitzed when he wasn't in training and partying and playing darts sinking pints and ****. But let's have it right, that didn't help him. I'm not saying binge drinking is ok when you're a world champion boxer, i was just differentiating between the two and poitning out that Hatton wasn't an alchoholic when he was fighting. Since he's retired he seems to be one though.

Mate on the road to alcoholism no one thinks they're an alcoholic, its all a slippery slope, which gradually gets worse and most alcoholics hide they're drinking as best they can. In good times of your life, when you have a focus or reason and when you realise you need to you can stay off the booze you can stay away from them. Alcoholics can also kick their habit for a while before they lose all self control when they get back on the drink. Look at George Best he went sobor for periods.

To be fair your right, we don't if Hatton was an out and out alcoholic when he was fighting but he was pretty borderline

    True true.

I wasn't living with him or anything so i can't say for sure, but personally i seriously doubt that Hatton was drinking when he was in training, as you say though we don't know.

Well, first of all Pacquiao wins hands down... And I would rather see PAC fight Berto or marquez. he could move down in weight for them.

It's plenty less meaningful. He is 40 years old and hasn't looked good in 2 years. It's also stupid. Mosley can get lucky and then we'll all watch the house that Freddy built tumble down.

A step up from Marg and Clottey...? Whoop-de-doo. Manny and Freddy are squandering a chance to approach all-time, p4p, elite status. Period.

Well, it looks to me like De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, and Mosley have separated themselves from the pack --they lost, and then got signed.

I am among the most vocal Mayweather critics on the planet -or at least in the neighborhood. But let's examine this objectively: Floyd beat De La Hoya when Oscar was far more live than the one Manny got. He beat an undefeated Hatton. He whipped a rejuvenated Mosley. Which of Manny's last five wins measure up to any of those?

    Hint: <1.

-If he hasn't looked good in 2 years I fail to see how its far less meaningful than Mayweather's win. Well, than you use the term "rejuvenated" Mosley, and it makes me wander..... :think

- Wins over upstarts: Berto, Bradley, and Alexander are not going to make or break Pac's alltime great status at this stage.

-:nut Or Hatton #1 JW ranking, Cotto #2 WW ranking. Oscar was a stepping stone into 140+ waters. Clottey decent top 5 opponent after Mayweather fight collapsed. I thought Marg fight was pointless but eh, a much larger 2 year removed top 3 fighter isn't going to hurt his legacy.

Abusrd argument, you could use that standard to rip Mayweather apart just as easily..OH MY GOD...they are actually fighting somebody with an L on their record!

-Easy, I would say Cotto trumps the declined Oscar SD and is probably on par with Mosley. Despite losing to Marg, Cotto beat Mosley afterall. Prior to Pacman and Mayweather, You could easily juggle Mosley and Cotto between the #1 and #2 spots at WW without argument. Outside of Mayweather, a win over Mosley will effectively clean out all the top Welters of the past 3 years.

Their most recent top 10 records at the time:

    Cotto
    W Zab Judah
    W Shane Mosley
    L Margarito
    W Clottey

    Mosley
    W Collazo
    L #Cotto
    W Margarito

Personally I'll buy this fight. Wouldnt buy Clottey or Margo. As old as Mosley is, it will be a good fight from a stylistic standpoint. both Mora and Mayweather were bad match ups for Mosley. Not sure why he even took the Mora fight? PAC will be there for Mosley to swing at and Mosleys chin will keep him in the fight for a while.
