Did anyone else notice that Ben Davidson had on a corset waist cincher type belt to try and hide his fat gut when he was in AJ's corner? Go back and have a look you can see it when he shirt gets scuffed up haha.

I kind of get what you’re saying but I don’t think trainers pick fighters, unless they are raising them in the gym.
In Davidsons case they are established fighters who are at world level or have been or are world champions.
In this situation I would say that the fighters pick the trainer.
I did think he’s a fraud but the word of the boxing community thinks differently and that is what has convinced me.
These things happen, I will use Jose mourinho as an example, he was a translator for Bobby Robson at Barca and became one of the most successful football managers of all time.

I will have to try and find it. They were talking about it on the Boxing Asylum podcast.
Davidson is a balding fat ass but he tires to look his best when he knows he will be on camera haha.
He has his own gym now maybe he should just try diet and exercise

Hard to blame Davison for the Dubois debacle. Even Hearn admitted Joshua didn't listen to the instructions he was given.

Left hand low, chin out and retreat straight back. What trainer on the planet is going to give instructions like that? This one is on Joshua not Davison.

Even the dumb instruction regarding the uppercut came from the Youtuber in the corner, did it not?

I think hes knowledgable. As in he knows a lot of boxing knowledge based off research and spending all his time thinking about boxing. You see it all the time with football coaching at youth level....so many guys never played in their life but their information knowledge is impressive because to make up for it they research and constantly learn whereas the guy thats played all their life dont learn anything outwith their own experience.

He keeps getting top fighters because his knowledge is impressive. Theres a difference between having knowledge and getting that knowledge working effectively tho. He knows a lot but he doesnt really know what stuff is really essential and whats isnt at this stage. They dont know how and when to apply the knowledge and what knowledge needs to be prioritised.

I thought he was doing a good job with joshua up until dubois....he had him fighting the way he should have always been fighting. When that didnt work against dubois tho....it kind of looks like he didnt get joshua prepared for an actual fight probably because he was putting all their effort into the masterplan/technique working. Dubois was doing hard sprints every day in camp up until the thursday before the fight. Probably not what you,ll learn at say university regarding sport science but his trainers experience knows you need to be prepared hard for a fight at top level boxing.

Bens mistake is he probably thinks he can think out masterplans....his lack of experience doesnt let him see that top level boxing isnt quite as simple as coming up with a masterplan to win every fight. You need other things to go with it. One of the biggest ones is knowing your fighters limitations.

Malik scott is similar even tho hes an experienced fighter. Hes a knowledgable guy....he knows his stuff....i dont think he has any real clue how to apply all that knowledge tho. Too much information can end up a drawback.

As opposed to a lot of succesful coaches who dont seem super knowledgeable....they know what works and whats needed tho and their fighters strengths and limitations more than the information heavy coaches.

In fairness to ben i think their trying to change joshua....because they know he cant recover quick enough if hurt. They tried to make joshuas legs keep him away from getting punched in the head. They just found out his reaction time etc wasnt quite good enough for it against dubois.

No. He isn't a fraud. He has talent as a trainer, but he's also inexperienced.

Ben Davison is the definition of a fraud and lies about everything. He hired a literal youtuber with no boxing background to come up with game plans for him so that he could try to pass off the youtubers tactics as his own. What other trainer would pay a youtuber to come up with tactics for him? This man is an absolute fraud and a joke.

Pretty wild how someone from this site could have very well started that YouTube channel and then been the co-trainer of a money HW like Joshua. The boxing world is very small and there are some very naïve folks in it.

Would have been better to hire Rummy as co-trainer, even though he DKSAB at least he has a cool voice.

Agreed, AJ in terms of ring IQ isn't a complete dunce but he's a village idiot compared to guys like Usyk and Fury. I have often thought he took the wrong game plan's in fights even as far back as the Wlad fight. He is heavily reliant on his physical attributes and shown a complete lack of ability to adapt mid fight and has failed to recognise where he went wrong in the Usyk fights and where his skills are lacking in dealing with Usyk. I doubt he wins a rematch against Dubois, probably because he simply doesn't know what he did wrong.

Awful corner advice from Ben(not the first time) and clearly worked on nothing but power punches thinking AJ could wipe everyone out!..... he clearly can't!

'Roll the dice' is the worst corner advice ever for a guy that's getting blasted and dropped by an opponent multiple times already.

    Poor AF.
