look how awesome it is in 2011, boxing is doing great, its basically doing very well everywhere but the US compared to decades earlier.
the only thing we need to get rid of is how corrupt the sanctioning bodies are and robberies and boxers ducking.

Word up! Aswell as In house fighting like Arum has been doing lately and how hard it is to get the best to fight the best because of the difficulty for promoters to deal with each other.

The problem with Boxing is top fights dont happen regular enough. Dodgy refs andjudges, fighters not travelling, champs fighting bums and so on takes away from the great sport.

There needs to be more regulation in the sport , with promoters and fighters willing to not just think about the profit and make boxing the huge showcase it once was.

Its hard for younger kids to watch the best fights since they are all PPV and if their dad or brother etc doesn't buy it. Then they miss out.

I remember when i was growing up, i got to see Eubank, Benn, Bruno, Lewis, Naz (early on) all for free. If they was nowdays, alot more of their fights woulda been PPV and i would've missed out and maybe not have been a big as fan as i am today.

Boxing will never completely decline. But its bound to fluctuate year to year, from place to place

For example the last few years it has been quiet in the UK since Hatton vs Mayweather 2007. Khan talk wasnt big, Froch is not really in the media. But since Haye fought Valuev the casuals are starting to get hyped for the big HW fights (makes sense since HW has always been the main attraction) And boxing has been the talk of the street along with F1 and football this week

All boxing really needs are big fights such as these

As HUGE as it is with the Latino audience, boxing is definitely not going to die. The primary sponsor of ESPN2's FNF fifteen years ago reflects this. Then: Budweiser. Now: Tacate and Corona. If anything boxing might get bigger in the next decade. All it needs is to produce a Latino American HW of note who doesn't hug constantly or eat like a whale and boxing will be right back in there.

The only fight left out there that excites me is Paq vs Mayweather which seems may never happen.
Really miss the old days of Leanord; Herns; Durran; Haggler; Tyson. Soo many great fighters for the fans to watch. Now we only have Paq.
What will be left out there after he retires??

That's what people were saying when Ali retired, when Tyson retired, when the Fab Four retired. Somebody ALWAYS comes along.

Also, if Pac vs Mayweather is the only fight that excites you, you must be a casual fan.

Boxing was # 2 sport in the US in the early '50's. But the Neilson rating box was not put in bars...so men then could drink a lot more and drive, so men went to bars and watched the fight.
    That was not counted.
In the early '50's we had 4 channels, and boxing was on often.
Then I Love Lucy Won....because the men watched the fights in the bars.

When pay for view came in, less and less folks got a 'free' fight...and it became a niche sport.
Especially when so many folks were learning some MMA.

We are getting 45,000 live viewers, this time.
Wlad filled a soccer stadium or was that his brother against someone.
    That though was in Germany.

I get about two free boxing nights a month, in Germany....as long as some 'German' champ is fighting.
Folks like coming to Germany to fight...it's a big payday.

Italy....the Italian world champion had to come to Germany to fight....no one in his home town even knew he was Champion.
He lost but, said he'd come back to Germany to fight.

Too many only go to 'big' fights, and not fights with contenders.
