Hey, you misunderstood my post. I meant what you said was also spot-on, it being a far more succinct summary of the post I quoted just previous. Definitely my fault though, as it requires the reader to know I'm replying to my own comment, and not just yours! "Made sense in my head", etc.

Not a fan. All it serves to do is dilute the potential talent pool at HW.

I understand Tony Bellew had something to do with it.

Lots of things need to be added and taken away from boxing. I agree with the earlier posts that there's already too many weight divisions and I'm not for Bridgerweight at all.

I like the idea of 8 divisions, 1 champ each. Since people have gotten bigger, I guess if they added a 9th it would be cool, something beyond HW. At least it wouldn't be a billion divisions X a billion belts.

Wow, could you imagine if boxing was structured really well, with a top 10 that actually means something, guys fighting their way to the top or faltering then coming back up the rankings, etc? Imagine if everyone was paid adequately and the incentive to become the real champ in each division was made lucrative to the fighters? Same day weigh-ins, imagine that.......

Sorry, was lost on fantasy island for a second.

I'm not sure I agree with Dempseyweight for Light Heavyweight, since Jack did his best work above the Light Heavyweight limit, but I do like your idea of naming the classes after former great fighters.

Uh oh, I'm on fantasy island again.

Just imagine how great boxing would be again.....15 round fights.....undercards full of talent worth getting excited about....REALLY anticipated fights that actually happen in a timely manner....referees that allow the correct conclusions to fights, not stopping things too early....same day weigh-ins with HWs that come in shape and ready to give every bit of themselves to win & leave nothing in that ring when they're through....average people on the street that can talk boxing just as easily as football or basketball or soccer......media coverage & popular fighters in commercials & adverts.....media coverage that is RESPECTFULL & gives our glorious, historical sport the PRAISE & HONOR it so rightly deserves, without all the belittling and condescension that goes on.....boxing, in it's most basic form, is a sport or contest that has been around far longer than these others & deserves more respect...boxing in it's present state of greedy orgs and endless, meaningless belts & "title fights", has become the laughing stock of the sports world.

**** bridgerweight & all the rest of the divisions that aren't needed.

Edit: Sorry for the rant, I'm really sick of seeing boxing being laughed at & treated like it's 2nd rate.

The 15 rounds were reduced to 12 due to medical reasons and following researches what happens to the body in 15 and in 12. Some wanted boxing to be banned even. But 12 is still fine, no fighting bout lasts that long as it does in boxing.

Definitely, 12 rounds as they used to be, would be great.

if anything lower cruiserweight back to 190, and make bridgerweight more like 210-ish.

While I do agree most athletic heavyweights land at around the mid 220's, it wouldn't make sense making the limit right at the desired weight when you consider that modern fighters get down to a certain body fat percentage in addition to cutting water weight. A 224 lb weight class just invites many of the lower tier superheavies who hang around the 240-250 to cut down and continue the weight bullying cycle.

the spread would resemble something like this

175 (who really walk around 190ish)
190 (who really walk around low 200's)
210 (who really walk around 220's)
    Heavyweight

    Overall:

Classes below 112 can be reserved for Federations where the average athlete is smaller than the Western average (ie: OPBF)

    112 - fly
    118 - bantam
    126 - feather
    135 - light
    147 - welter
    160 - MW
    175 - LHW
    190 - Cruiser
    210 - Bridger or whatever the ****
    Heavy

I'm against all weight classes. None are legit. Either you can beat somebody or you can't. You don't just pretend nobody exists who is bigger. I mean, what we do in boxing is like track that goes in speed classes where the slowest people can just pretend away the fastest people and then call themselves the fastest person for their own speed. It's ridiculous. I'm done. I'm out.

If it goes and has a structure with champions and challengers, then there is not much I can do but accept it.

But so far Ive never even seen a single fight in the division.
