I can't wait for the revisionism 20+ years down the road, where bridgerweight "champs" get their credentials exaggerated like other "champs" in junior/super divisions. We can have some fringe-contender-at-best in the heavyweight division boil down and bang out rejects from 190+, allowing him to tread lightly until he gets the call from AAA ball to fight some big leaguer in a division above. This sport is a joke a lot of times. Unless we reduce the classes we currently have and potentially reform the weights themselves, we are only adding insult to an already injured game. The reason so many classes are considered "weak" today is because they are already spread thinner than ever. Why would we want to amplify that problem? We love the idea of Oscar Rivas caliber fighters prancing around with hardware like second-rate wrestlers?
Now with WBA having joined WBC, are IBF and WBO far off in establishing a Bridgerweight class? A couple of the WBA's top rankers in the class also are high Cruiserweight rankers, so no doubt there will be lots of traveling across weight classes, but with heavyweights now averaging nearly 250 lbs. .... ?
