It depends on how long his chin holds up. Andrade showed to the world that Bute has a shaky chin in the first fight.

Calzaghe had a solid chin and magnificent stamina. He could recover from knockdowns and take some hard shots.

Bute could barely stand after Andrade put him down. We'll see what happens when he meets a real power puncher. He's in luck theirs plenty of them in this weight class.

Joe did have good boxing skills but he did tend to hit with the palm of his hands (Slapping). His only truly great win was against Bhop at that was by a hair at best. If he thought he was better he should have fought him again (like countless other champs who took on guys they narrowly beat). SMW division then was almost as bad as the heavies are today.

I agree that he probably could never boiled down to 160, if he could he would have been weight drained and a million fools would have said he was exposed if he lost. However, there were several big fish to fry at light heavy and to say cleaning out a division with his best win is Lacy (who was media hype) and Kessler (who I think is very good but dined on very poor competition) leaves a lot to be desired.

Yes, he had great stamina, great chin, and very good skills but he played it very safe. This is a critique of many fighters out there (ie PBF and RJJ) but they did it was all about business and for them if it did not make dollars it did not make sense.

For the last couple of years there has been talk of AA, Taylor, Pavlik all moving up, Ward and Dirrel were Olympains, Green was showing great promise and Bad Chad was calling him out (but he fought RJJ, that meant more business sense and was a smart move but they could have fought after), Bute and Pascal were making waves in Canada and Froch well, Froch is Froch, he maybe the luckiest guy on the planet or has some hidden talent that is not quite easy to define.

They're not that stylistically similar and Bute is not even close to on the same plane as Calzaghe. He may surpass him in time, but not yet. Not close.

Bute is not a poor mans Calzaghe I think hes almost on the same Level,I think he would have gave Calzaghe all he could handle, but they do kind of remind me of each other, but Calzaghe had a high work rate,Bute Boxes and moves more.

Ya muther****ers are a trip. Bute scors a KO, against a terrible fighter in Andrade, who was similarly whipped by Kessler in 12 rounds, not too mention he should have lost by KO the first time.

And NOW HE's AS GOOD AS CALZAGHE? Rofl!

Didnt you learn anything after jumping on Kesslers band wagon?

Calzaghe is overrated and Andrade is better than most of the bums Calzaghe ever beat!Only fighter Calzaghe beat that was better than Bute was an Old hopkins and that decision was questionable. I think Bute would beat Kessler.

Bute hasnt had the chance yet believe me he will not face as many bums as Calzaghe did. Bika isnt faded either I think he has gotten better compared to when Calzaghe fought him. Bute would beat an old Roy Jones and he probably beats Kessler too.

Until he does or something similar, he doesnt deserve to be put in Calzaghes class becuase he beat a C class fighter in Andrade. **** I could say Amir Khan is as good as Mayweather doesnt make it so until he proves it.
