By the end of the Super 6, the winner will have a better resume so I'm leaning towards No.

I think by the end of the Super 6, several of the participants will have a better resume than Bute, if they don't already.

Calm down. It's true that Kessler faced an excellent opponent. He lost to him. Does that make him go up in your rankings? Some boxers will emerge from the super 6 with a better ranking than before they entered. For the others, it will be the contrary, because of their defeats. Bute won't be number 1, unless he faces Pavlik AND Dawson, and wins against both men. We can agree that this won't be easy to do. Bute won't be number 7 neither because Green may lose 2 fights, Abraham or Froch may lose 1 or 2 fights each, Kessler has already lost one, as Dirrell. For the moment, Ward and Froch are winners (I don't put Froch at the top of my personal ranking because I thought he lost, I therefore put Dirrell pretty high).

Not just him LOL. The other american Ward also and I feel both would beat bute. You didn't say ward because you prolly believe he would beat bute also.

When you see Bute struggle with miranda just think of how easy ward made it look.

Of course, you will already have a new nickname on this board if Bute wins easily.

Arguably his biggest test? Arguable by WHO? Miranda would be his 4th or 5th best win, blatantly worse than Andrade x2 and Bika, and probably worse than Berrio as well.

He's not "clearly" the best - Ward and Froch both have good arguments too - but he's right up there with them for now. In the back of my mind, I'm sort of hoping Dirrell loses a close fight to Ward and gets eliminated from the Super Six so they can make Bute-Dirrell. That fight would answer a lot of questions. Dirrell would be the bext boxer Bute's faced by a long shot, and that's the real glaring omission on Bute's record, lack of a win over a good boxer.

Based on recent activity Froch is #1. Especially since we saw the way Dirrel handed Abraham his ass.

Head to head I'll take Bute over anyone in the division.

Very close ATM. We have Froch, Ward, Bute equal, with Dirrell 4th, Kessler 5th and AA 6th. All very equal, can beat eachother.

At the moment id say its still undecided who is the best 168lb fighter since Calzaghe left the division. I could make an argument for alot of the top guys, and because styles make fights, im not sure any of these current guys could reign supreme, so based on who they have fought so far, and who they are about to fight

Bute - beaten Berrio (was IBF champ and has win and lose against WBO champ Steiglitz) , Bika, Andrade twice (lucky not to be stopped in 1st fight) and is fighting Miranda next (beaten by Ward, Pavlik and Abraham twice)

Ward - beaten Miranda (beaten by Pavlik and Abraham twice) and possible top man of the division Kessler (WBA champ beaten by Calzaghe) and is fighting Green next (beaten by Miranda)

Froch - beaten undefeated Pascal (now WBC LHW champ), Taylor (beaten by Pavlik twice), undefeated Dirrell (Close fight, Boxing News and The Ring scored closely for Froch), and fighting Kessler next (beaten by Ward & Calzaghe), has also beaten past best R Reid and B Magee who has gone on to win European title since

Based on the overall of whos beaten who, id say at this time the ratings should be Froch at the top for who hes beaten and remembering 2 of those fights will also have been away fights, but if he loses to Kessler, then id say Ward should go to the top
    1.Froch
    2.Ward
    3.Bute

But as to if Butes the best, I guess time will tell, he may go on to be and could have an argument made for him. But his 1st fight with Andrade should have been a late KO win for Andrade which dosent bode well, but in fairness he did come back to win by KO in the rematch

No he clearly isn't, as he lacks the bottle to prove himself against the best in the division

Bute vs Kessler = Kessler wins

Bute vs Miranda = Maaaaybe Bute wins here

Bute vs Andrade = If he cant get Andrade with a good body shot, then Andrade by tko

    Bute vs Green = Bute
