No, it's a unification between two undefeated fighters.

Superfight is two huge names, De La Hoya versus Mayweather, etc.

Superfights Cotto versus Pacman or Mayweather. Multi-weight champions.

both unefeated, unifying titles, number 1 and 2 at that weight, 60,000 people, it was a classic fight.

of course its a superfight. for those that say they had bad resumes, name other super middleweight they could have fought??

A top match up, it just didnt have the hype or publicity of a 'superfight'. Or Don King.

its a classic fight, but no where close to a super fight.....a super fight to me has to crossover to the mainstream, and this fight didnt.....its a classic fight amongst boxing fans...

I would compare it to Froch-Taylor in terms of fight status.

I don't think Calzaghe or Kessler were high profile enough to call it a superfight.

Superfights don't come along very often, and usually involve DLH.

Given the history of the division I do think it was a super fight. 80,000 people in a major stadium. Two undefeated fighters. All the important belts on the line. Linear title on the line. First linear fighter for 168. Joe is undoubtedly an elite fighter. Kessler was/is just a notch below. However Kessler has fought and defeated good fighters, more importantly he has dominated them. This is what holds him in higher regards then a typical guy with his sort of record.

    Certainly not.

Please don't mention the likes of Ali, Frazer, Hearns, Hagler in the same breath again.... thankyou.
