Without a doubt. 36 rounds vs GGG and 12 rounds ve Bivol would be enough to render most guys past their best. Not to mention the fact he’s been pretty active by today’s standards over the past decade or more. Go back and watch him circa 2016 through to 2020 and he was a completely different fighter. I think he’d already declined a fair bit by the time of the Saunders fight, the bivol fight more or less finished him off. Fighting at the higher weights can’t have helped.
We have different definitions of shot. What you are describing to me is a fighter past his prime. There’s a difference between that and being shot.
you’ll find that a lot of die hard Crawford fans will never admit that canelo was shot quite a long time ago. I thought he was showing signs of decline as far back as around the time of the Saunders fight tbh. He looked like absolute dog**** (shot) during the Scull and Berlanga fights. He looked bad enough in the Mungia fight that his fans were claiming he carried Mungia because he didn’t want to make Mungia feel too dejected. Lol
His fight against Jacobs was also prime Canelo and he looked solid enough all the way through the BJS fight imo (was explosive enough to land those body shots against a slippery fighter), but he didn't look quite as sharp against Plant and it's been a steady decline since then
I still maintain that Usyk beating Belly had a far higher degree of difficulty than Crawford beating that version of Clenelo who was similar sized, with a much shorter reach and who was on a four year KO drought vs cherrypicks. Belly isn't a one dimensional predictable plodder who cannot deal with certain styles like Clenelo is these days and just the much smaller Usyk having to overcome the huge physical advantages alone, especially getting past Belly's orangutan reach and dealing with his height, was a difficult enough task, let alone someone that much bigger than you who is as skilled and versatile as Belly who knows how to use his range and catch you as you're coming in with shots which are not telegraphed and easy to see coming like Clenelo's are when you have the longer reach and are fighting at a range he has to close to land with them. All Crawford had to do to neutralize his power was a simple step back or raise his arms and cover up when Clenelo launched his shots and Belly's power especially given the huge weight disparity and how that would magnify it ten-fold posed a much greater threat too
Shot or overrated. Scull was just overwhelmed by a relative unknown. Apart from Canelo's robberies against GGG, what are his best wins? Kovalev who clearly came to lose? He's a solid, granite chinned Mexican fighter who is loved by the fangirls. That's his ticket, not his skills.
