You're making this very confusing now. You can't have 1 rule for the USA and a different rule for everyone else.

Because America is a nation of immigrants or descendents of immigrants who maintain some kind of romantic nostalgia for their "old country" - except, of course, for the Native America Indians

You lie. Calzaghe not only beat Hopkins but humiliated him. Bent the fading, winded, faking low blow coward over and simulated anal **** on Hopkins. Probably reminded Bernie of his prison days. Complete domination. Hopkins tried his dirty tricks early and the ref allowed it. The experienced Joe took matters into his own hands, grabbed the cheater in a headlock and bashed him in the back of the head several times. The ref couldn't do much as he let Hopkins cheat. Hopkins was very well behaved after the fourth round and Joe took over the fight.

If you want to call them the original Americans than go ahead.

American as a constitutional Republic exists because of the various different European ancestries that built this country.

I even heard that Scandinavians were hear before the so called 'Natives.'

You see thats the problem with you right wing lunatics. You hypocrisy I tell you.
You speak as though the America's was an open space with no inhabitants when the Europeans got here.

In your twisted little mind its inappropriate for non whites to claim British citizenship but ok for white to claim American as citizenship.
    :-(

    YES!

Someone who finally gets it! :deal

Calzaghe's win over Hopkins and Roy decimates everything on Carl's resume.

Not sure what you're getting at, they are all American because America is a nation of migrants as is Canada, Brazil, Argentina... England is an ethnic people, as are the Scots, Welsh and Irish, likewise French, Italian, Spanish and German, and Japanese and Chinese. It's not the same, but of course a guy like Hamed can be British if he wants, or Arab.

The natives didn't construct America. They had nothing to do with, but if you want to consider them the originals (although a lot of evidence is out there to suggest otherwise) than by all means.

Even though my opinion doesn't mean much, I wouldn't argue against that stance.

British is not an ethnicity either. People within the United Kingdom define theselves ethnically as English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Indian, Asian, African, etc, etc. British is merely the collective term for national identity and citizenship.

Therefore the question: "Is it silly to call (almost?) all American champions American?" is still a valid one to ask in response to people attempting to reclassify fighters who consider themselves British as something else.

I never said it was an ethnicity, that's why Hamed or Lewis can be British.

America was not alway a nation of immigrants Europeans made it that way. I don't mean to hurt your little feeling but what you're seeing in Europe today is what the future holds. Globalization whether you like it or not is here to stay. :bbb

In the future the world will look like Brazil. Thats the truth:D

Sorry if I adressed that to you incorrectly but the route this current discussion has taken has been someone claiming that Black fighters cant be British because they're not white Europeans by descent and people opposing that view. So my comment was made in that context and not directly aimed at you.

It was a mostly uninhabited, nameless land mass populated by quite disparate nomadic tribes: a big empty space, not even farmed and not settled. It was not a country or nation by any definition.
