    good one
even if 7 other heavy champs had comparible title winning performance that would still make dempsey-willard quite a stand-out victory historically.
i can only think of three or four that compare . Liston, Foreman, Tyson (if we recogniz beating Berbick or Spinks rather than Tny Tucker) and maybe Max Baer. those are the only heavy champs i can think of who ripped the title from its holder in anything like the devastating fashion Dempsey did with big jess.

Depends what your definition of a title winning performance. Is it performance, dominance or early KOs

    Early KOs

    Lewis-Briggs
    Tyson-Spinks
    Holyfield-Douglas
    Liston-Patterson
    Foreman-Frazier
    Ingo-Patterson

    Dominant wins

    Patterson-Moore
    Ali-Liston
    Baer-Carnera
    Douglas-Tyson

    Performances

    Frazier-Ali 1 deserves a mention, as does Ali-Liston

im talking about fighters giving seriously one-sided beatings to the champ from around about the opening bell. no ones denying dempsey did that. and its a rare thing.

I have Willard wining the third. And if Dempsey had sailed into a prime Willard like that, Willard would have weathered the storm better and crushed him after 10 rounds or so.
