You can't have a teenage daughter and have that kind of view about Duran, unless you were having her when you are 15 and even then I still think you learn nothing about boxing lol.
Manny Floyd and pernell are all top 30 ATG. I have no problem if you say they will be competitive or even beat him, although I disagree. The rest of the names you mentioned are at least naturally 2 weight classes above him. You do know Duran had over 70 fights at lightweight and already an ATG even if he didn't move up.
No. Dejesus would be a serious force in this era. And Duran lost to Dejesus in a ten round non title fight. Pretty much the same as Floyd having a bad day sparring Spadafora. Duran avenged that loss twice in REAL fights. One of them being a masterclass in boxing.
I will say this... considering he's usually ranked anywhere 5-15 on ATG lists, how great are wins #2-8 or #9-20 on his "best wins list?" (so to speak) Having said that. I too rate him in the above mentioned range, even if I have been souring on him a bit the last couple years.
Duran was a small man who had no business getting in thee ring with those men. The fact he even fought them shows just how ATG he was.
Yes. From June 1980 to June 1984 among others Duran fought SRL x 2 (back-to-back), Wilfred Benitez, Pipino Cuevas, Davey Moore, Luigi Minchillo, and Hagler and Hearns (back to back).
You’re right, we’re not on the same level. I’m spending Father’s Day at the beach with my wife and kids. Meanwhile, you’re waking up in your mother’s basement to spend time with “Manuela” before hitting up your dad for the keys to his Oldsmobile.
Did someone really just **** about the fantastically skilled, HOF level Esteban De Jesus? One of the finest lightweights of a golden era for the weight class. Don't even say the man's name you uneducated oaf, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
Most skilled and best overall boxer that I'ver ever seen. Can't understand him not making someone's top 10 ATG list. Was an absolutely rabid savage of an animal.
