Davey Moore would be a superstar today. Sensational road warrior talent that was moved extremely quickly.

I doubt that. I don't see it. I don't think being 2018 means that big a difference. A superstar today still has to be able to win fights against Duran or that level to be a superstar.

He was 32 when he fought Hagler and Hearns, and that was the same age Hearns was when he beat Virgil Hill who was 26 and undefeated at light heavyweight.

If you don't think an easily to promote all action fighter like Moore would go farther nowadays, with no Roberto Duran level fighters around to hinder his progress and boxing being infinitely easier to distribute & promote in the modern era... Well, don't know what else to tell you.

I think he beat Barkley. He knocked him down and rocked him a couple of times. I think he was great, just not top 10 ATG.

other times people will say Duran was a little guy for 154 and was not at his best when he fought Hearns and Benitez at the weight, and now you say without guys like Roberto Duran to hinder his progress Moore would be a superstar now or someone else eluded to that.. Those are two different opinions. If people say Hearns beat Duran at 154 and Benitez, then people say, well he was too small.. Yet he beats Moore and the weight is not an issue there. That is where I would say. I don't know what to say.

The competition back then outside of the top 5 in the weight classes was......horrific. I feel like a journeyman today would walk through most of those guys.

I dont think he is overrated
Many posters on here only seem to focus on Duran after he left LW.
Duran I think would still be an ATG even if he retired before the amazing later part of his career when he was fighting above LW. He was a 62-1-0 LW unified world champ with an impressive resume

    Good point.

To those who criticize fighters that consciously quit on their stool, tell the ref "no," or stay down until the ten count, Roberto Duran's quit job is literally among or perhaps the worst ever in the history of the sport. They should despise him with no possibility of forgiveness.
