I don't understand why your so triggered by an opinion, were discussing boxing from 50 odd years ago relax, nothing about comment was outlandish or disrespectful.

The fact is Ali had 2 comeback fights against two top contenders, one of them being a good 15 round test. They were good warm up/comeback fights after the lay off. Yes in a perfect world maybe 1 or 2 more fights might of been the perfect scenario, but the fact is Frazier fought an amazing fight, and it doesn't matter what version of Ali turned up that night, he would of been in for hell regardless. As I stated earlier Frazier never reached that peak again as he had in their 1st meeting.

Mildenberg gave him a good fight, i never said Ali was ever in danger of losing, but Mildenberg gave a good account of himself.

Well when Muhammad Ali dethroned Sonny Liston, his previous fight was vs Henry Cooper. So your saying that fight has no relevance ? when in his very next fight after the Henry Cooper fight, he won the world title from Sonny Liston ? that doesn't really make sense does it ? also the Doug Jones fight was only 1 year before the Sonny Liston fight, so i think that fight also has some relevance.

The point i'm trying to make is Ali in the 60's wasn't unbeatable, he could be hit and hurt. And beating up a Cleveland Williams who suffered a gunshot wound, and had his kidney removed and had partial paralysis in his hip, and also had nerve damage in his leg, doesn't mean Ali beats that version of Frazier in 71 easily.

It sounds like i'm trying to have digs at Ali that's not the case, i have nothing against Ali he was an amazing fighter and i enjoy his fights. But some people seem to think the 60's version of Ali, is like some mythical unbeatable fighter who never showed flaws that's not the case.

As i said in my previous comment, all i'm trying to say is 60's version of Ali or not, he is in for hell against the Frazier of 71.

Ali never spent a day in jail. He was convicted of draft evasion but was cleared before he spent any time. He was banned from boxing for three years and the ban was lifted when the charges were dropped.
And yes, Ali spent 10 days in jail for an old traffic ticket. Is that when his skill faltered ?

It is the greatest win in HW history. Maybe even in the history of the sport. How can it be overrated?

Why are you telling me this when I already said that Ali spent time in jail and it was not related to his stance on Vietnam?

Why did you first say that Ali never spent a day in jail and then later said he spent 10 days in jail?

I said that Ali's three and a half years of inactivity led to ring rust that couldn't be quickly brushed off - which would be the case for any fighter.

The only people who could possibly question that are either:

    1) irrational boxing fans who don't like Ali and are clutching at straws in their refusal to give him credit

    2) trolls

    3) Joe Frazier's relatives

The layoff didn't effect Ali. He had already fought and won. He messed around too much in the first Frazier fight and it cost him.
He didn't in the next two and won both times. A 10 day stay in county did not effect that.
I never much liked Frazier and Ali was GOAT. Now go outside and play with the other kids.

Muhammad Ali did not ever go to prison in 1967, he was stripped of his title and boxing license. On June 20 1967, Ali was convicted of Draft Evasion, sentenced to 5 years in prison, fined $10,000.00. Ali posted bond and appealed his conviction, took his case up the several steps of various courts. On June 28 1971, Ali's case was heard before the U.S Supreme Court, his conviction was overturned by a 9-0 vote.
