Many people think Wlad wasn't himself when Tyson beat him, and performed much better against AJ. Tyson has been a pro for ages now, yet besides Wlad has only fought one more big name in Wilder (and got dropped twice and nearly put away). Wilder has fought Fury (Lineal, and beat) and Ortiz (arguably the bogeyman of the division, and beat). The Wilder of the Fury fight would have sparked the Wlad of the Tyson fight, IMHO. So is Tyson's resume that much better than Wilder's?
I'd say it is, who had Wilder fought after 28 fights? How many belts had Wilder won after 28 fights? Had Wilder been abroad after 28 fights? Wilder's 25th fight was Damon McCreary, and we all know just how f**king ridiculous that whole spectacle was, like a freak show, a comedy act, something you'd see at a charity event to raise money. This content is protected Tyson Fury's 25th fight was in Germany, beating a man who was undefeated for 11 years, winning all of the belts, with exception of the one that Wilder had been keeping hostage since beating the mighty Stiverne, in the process. I don't want to come across like I'm slating Wilder, it's just very clear that Fury has a higher percentage of better opponents on his resume.
Fury won the legitimate world heavyweight title on the road against one of the most dominant champions in history, who hadn’t lost in over a decade. Like every fight there is a context for what happened, and extenuating circumstances have been put forward (some more valid than others). However, regardless of how many asterisks are attached to Fury’s win, it is still the best single result any active heavyweight has on their record, and may well remain so even if any of the big three fight each other. Wilder doesn’t have anything on his resume that comes close, and it’s not like he has strength in depth elsewhere to make up the gap.
