Hagler wouldn't stop Derevyanchenko in the first round. He might stop him late. Derevyanchenko is no joke, and Golovkin was 37, not well, fighting under a new trainer and he still won. Was Hagler almost losing to Duran, who is a blown up lightweight, a sign of greatness? What about losing to a blown up welterweight Leonard, who hadn't fought in 3 years? Greatness? Remember, Golovkin previously KO'D (18) of the last 20 successful title defenses. Does Golovkin struggling with the tough as nails Derevyanchenko negate all those destructive title defenses? Of coarse not. Nor does Haglers loss to Leonard negate Haglers 12 title defenses. Hagler is still great.

People are getting way too stingy while gatekeeping certain designations. 30% don't think GGG is an ATG. Lol. Wut. Hes got over 20 title wins at MW. If you don't want to rank him in your top 10 cause MWs been around 150 years and theres so many great fighters awesome good for you. I don't know how you look at that resume and say hes not an ATG.

if he were black or American, or both, he’d be in their ATG lists

I was looking forward to seeing GGG dismantle him, even though I like Kid Chocolate.

Ahem, Derevyanchenko beats the paste out of 37 year old Hagler, who retired at 32 and was looking on the verge of being shot when he did retire. I posted that just to remind people that when we look at GGG "struggling" we are looking at the efforts of a fighter who is OLD in boxing terms and past his prime.

Yep, I agree, and Golovkin's biggest fights with Canelo are when he was 35 and 36. He still looked great and did the job.

It’s hard to make direct comparisons like that.

Marvin couldn’t fight at GGG’s age. Which is a huge compliment to GGG.

However, GGG didn’t fight almost 70 fights like Marvin did.

And if he had’ve done, he could also have retired earlier.

    Nobody knows.

Regarding the thread, I’d say that he was an ATG.

But he has a weak resume. It’s not his fault, but it’s just the way it is.

    Correct. That is my point.

This is where I bring up GGG's 350 amateur fights and where you say amateur fights are not the same as pro fights and where I say that yabbut they are still over 1000 rounds in the ring and you say ya but headgear and where I point out that amateurs still get KOd.

It's hard to make direct comparisons like that ;)

His resume isn't the greatest but he was one of the most ducked and avoided fighters in recent times, was a fearless road warrior who not only fought in his opponent's backyards and on the road many many times but he was willing to fight all the fighters who ducked and avoided him in their backyards and they knew this too

He was robbed of the greatest part of his legacy against the ''greatest fighter of the generation'' when he was already past his prime himself.

He was a great amateur too and his amateur resume is very impressive

As for his in ring abilities. He was a savage punching iron-jawed beast who looked about as menacing as a choirboy, and unlike many others he wasn't a weight bully so his power and chin are even more impressive when you factor that in because he was often the smaller man, roughly the same size as his opponents, and rarely bigger. And he had excellent skills too which I believe were even more impressive pre-Abel Sanchez and he had a ton of miles on his odometer from his extremely extensive amateur career

He wasn't ever knocked down in almost 400 fights amateur and pro and there's certainly no record of it if he was and we haven't seen him come close to touching down even once, let alone get KO'd.

All these fighters either flat-out ducked him, turned down fights against him, numerous in their own countries, avoided him or wanted nothing to do with him, arguably ducked him or didn't appear keen on fighting him for one reason or another, or pulled out of fights against him (Pirog was obviously genuinely injured). He was willing to fight them all

Sturm, Mundine, BJS, Peter Chocolate, N'Dam, Pirog, Darren Barker, Andy Lee, Melon Head Miguel, Sergio

And it took GGG looking human against Brook to get Jacobs to man up and GGG had to bend over backward to get him into the ring agreeing to an unfair and underserved purse split for Jacobs even though GGG was the champ and he was fighting the challenger Jacobs in his backyard

And it took GGG looking human against Brook and Jacobs to entice Clenelo to finally pop his head out of the custom built state of the art Kazakhstani-proof electrified chicken coop he spunked half of his career earnings on to have built to cower in fear in whilst prime GGG was on the prowl

As for him supposedly ducking Ward at 168. Don't get me started on that

Yes, I'm just saying it was a close fight. Unfortunately you GGG fans worship the guy more than Christians worship Jesus, so any remotely positive remarks about his opponents cause mental breakdowns on you lot.

We all know GGG's mere presence caused his opponents to die out of fear (unless they were a moving-up Canelo of course, then GGG got his ass kicked). I once heard Wladimir ducked GGG out of fear that his lethal punches might send his head across the continent.

20 successful defences of his middleweight title and he beat three world ranked fighters after his reign ended.I thought he beat Canelo in the first two fights of their trilogy and I couldn’t care less if people say Canelo deserved to win the second fight.Canelo lost that fight.
