Now there are many veeery good amateurs in HW.I don't see Joshua as the same dominator like Klitshko. He can win against one of them, 2, but not all the fights.I talk about Hrgovic, Makhmudov, Yoka, Dychko, Tishchenko, Ajagba, and Kuzmin, Joyce, Dinu(+Usyk to come) who are not so young, but can cause bigger problems than Takam, Breazeale, Martin and other opponents of Joshua.
P.S.I think there is a big chance that Wilder will be knocked out couple of times if he will fight with these guys.

The heavyweight division IMO, was at its worst throughout the Klitschko reign. I do not blame the brothers one bit for that. They were superb pugilists but not a joy for all to watch, especially the casuals. We often saw 12 round straights fest.

If you can remember that era, and you compare it to now, I think you'll find theres more exciting heavyweights and match ups before us then there was back then.

It maybe the worst division for some but I think its improved for so many.

This. 168, Cruiserweight, and 140 to me are the weakest divisions in boxing.

To be fair to Joshua most of his problems have to do with his inexperience and carrying too much size. I think at 235 lbs he wouldn't be as stiff and would be able to throw combinations without tiring himself out, but his footwork and upper body movement are really bad and need a lot of work, but his footwork isn't as bad as Parker, who has the worst fundamentals of the bunch. Also, Wilder clearly throws his right cross with proper technique, but like Joshua Wilder's footwork and defense leaves a lot to be desired.

That said as poor as the heavyweight division is it isn't nearly as bad as the cruiserweight division or the supermiddleweight division, which are the epitome of mediocre.

The heavyweight division is always or nearly always, the marquee division of the sport.

The HW champion is the top dog of the sport. He can beat any boxer alive.

The other weights may be exciting and often more skilled, but their champions would lose to the HW champion.

The only reason these divisions exist is to compensate for one of the many physical attributes of the sport, size.

    We don't handicap long-legged sprinters. A 5' 6'' sprinter competes directly against a 6'5" sprinter.

In terms of the overall skill levels of the top dozen or so in a given division, the HW division has its ups and downs.

But the size and power and the explosiveness of the one punch KO gives the HW division a level of excitement to balance against the often superior athleticism of the little fellas.

There are many ways to define 'best' and 'worst,' but I think its a bit of a reach to declare the HW division the worst in boxing.

If we didn't have divisions we'd get guys like Mayweather getting beat by bouncers. The sport would completely suck.

    This is true.

And I am in favour of the divisions. Maybe not 17, but 8 or 9.

My point was not to attack the concept of weight classes but rather, in response to the OP, to make a few points about the marquee division of the sport, the Heavyweights.
