This content is protected I tend to believe that leftcross Hector put on Limon in the 3rd round might be the fastest punch ever thrown in a boxing ring. It was unfair.
True on all counts JT1....I think we both know someone who should bone up just a little bit about some early 80's lightweights before posting about them.
I dont know how great Camacho was but at 130, 135, seemed to have everybody's number Since Sanchez left the game, Hector emerged as the best of the little men when the experts pegged Curry 2 or 3 p4p, I had Hector ranked ahead of him. You can tell quality when you see it I also believe he was better stock than the cuties that came after him; Pernell, Mayweather. Made in the image of Camacho but not quite equal to the master
excellent point Cobra33 Although Pernell was more awkward, I think he would come off second best because of Hector's hand & foot speed Pernell cant hurt him and that means hector would outpoint him
You are stuck on a theme in this thread and it's plain wrong. Camacho was stopping full blown junior lightweights and some lightweights as well. What junior lightweights and lightweights did Sanchez stop? Sanchez is a Solid crisp puncher but he's no banger. Nor is Nelson tho i'd call him a hard puncher. Cowdell is one fight. Nunn ko'd Kalamabay. LaPorte KO'd Lockridge. Moments in time that are the exception, not the rule. For me something was a bit off with Fenech tho Nelson certainly came to compete.
lol! Nelson punched far harder than Nunn P4P, he was a known puncher. he became boxing royalty by knocking out Wilfredo Gómez in round 11 to win the WBC featherweight championship. Behind on the three judges' scorecards, Nelson rallied in that last round to become champion in Puerto Rico.
Whitaker beat better fighters and was rated highe at welter and rated higher P4P while Camacho wa a light-welter, he was also far better v Chavez than Camacho was.
I agree he hits harder P4P than Nunn but i will tell you right now Nelson was not known as a "puncher" and my general premise stands. Nelswon never stopped anyone in 1 round prior nor after. Cowdell is the only decent opponent he stopped in 4 rounds or less. He was basically very good at everything and the sum of his parts made him a great fighter. His power was considered very good, no more. Nelson should never have been behind on the scorecards - he was winning that fight. One card was even and he was only behind by a point on another tho so even on the official fixed cards he was barely behind. Gomez was faded by this point but it's still a great win and IMO Nelson kept on improving.
