The problem is that the heaviest division will always be the blue chip division because the champion of that division is assumed to the best boxer on the planet. If anyone else could beat them, then they could move up to the heaviest division. Doesn't matter what you do, create a Super HW division, or raise the CW limit to encourage Haye/Adamek to stay at CW, the money and glamour will always be with the heaviest division.

NO it is not time... for the same reason it is not time for the UFC to add a Super Heavyweight division. The division is already thin of credible talent. If the division was stacked with alot of credible talent it might warrant a new division. But to do so now would just be thinning things out even furhter. IMO.

    Stupid idea.

    1. If there were a super heavy weight class, you'd just have lower weight guys putting on lbs to make it. Same as you have today with those coming from Cruiser to Heavy.

    2. 240lbs....this is something that Wladimir can easily make (Wlad was 238 for Ibragimov, 240 for Chagaev, and 241 against Thompson).

    3. It's not just about the weight, it's about skill. There are a lot of fighters over 240 that are absolutely terrible. Just because two brothers are dominating, that doesn't mean you go out and create an entire new weight class to protect the other fighters.

Wlad and Vitali are CUT and FIT and are at 245... so they should be with the fat asses over 240?

boxing does NOT need yet another weight class:-(

i think the only reason is tradition. the sport has always prided the title- heavyweight champion of the world- as being the biggest baddest man on the planet, and to add a division bigger and higher- would make the lineality of the title redundant.

thats why they do it- but i dont agree, i think humans have grown, and heavies have grown fat. i remember when heavyweights were lean powerful and explosive, holyfield, tyson, ali, lewis, and the whole division was in shape. now the guys are just going for size over condition- and look terrible. besides the klit brothers and haye- there arent many well toned heavies.

its why our most popular boxers are relative midgets now- while the heavyweight champs are unknown to casual sporting fans.

Peter at 240 is good for his body type, I don't think he could ever be a fully "ripped" fighter

    Sosnowski is ripped.

Povetkin isn't "body beautiful", but I think that's just his body type, he has a high work rate and seems to do fine (too bad he won't step up though).

I think we need LESS divisions, not more.

I think fighters should be refused licenses if they are fat and out of shape. They should be suspended until they lose some of their flab.
