Is it time we start viewing Canelo as a future ATG?

For me to call you a ATG you have to be top 100 ever. I...don't think Canelo has sniffed at that. There are people in his era, in his WEIGHT CLASS, that are currently better than him probably.

He's already HOF right now he will probably end up being an ATG when it's all said and done.

Lol @ weight bully:facepalm:.. two of his biggest fights were against a guy twice his size who has the power to punch a wall down.
His next fight is in a division he has no business being in.

Canelo did get away with it. His "punishment" for popping dirty was a multi mil $$ fight & a yrue champions titles stolen & handed to him
If that's not CORRUPTION What is ????????????

i agree cj that he should have got a stiffer sentence, but i doubt a six month ban is getting away with it.

pedvetkin got worse, cheatapova got it a lot worse in tennis (although to be fair they are both also rans ever since they were found out, so it stands to reason there success came from cheating).

i tihnk what you mean is clenelo got off lightly. it shouldda been a year ban at least in my eyes. but perhaps they wanted to give him 3g whilst 3g was still prime/near prime.

Most ATGs have been given gifts in fights they probably should have lost, but I can't think of any who received so many. Since the Testing for PEDs era, a lot of ATGs have been popped; so he's got some company in that camp too. I consider him elite despite the asterisks.

He proved in two fights that he's not much inferior to Golovkin and Golovkin is probably a top ten middleweight. Lucky for Canelo, he turned pro young and was able to capitalize financially on his talent in ways that Golovkin, Lomachenko, and Usyk never will. He's still in the thick of his prime so he has even more opportunities to impress us in the future. That should be the primary lesson people take away from his career. Start young like Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr.. Get the big fights early. Be precocious and leave a legacy.

If you go downstairs and look at the Classic sections top 100 p4p fighters list, it's a little thin at the bottom. He's better than some of those guys. Jung Koo Chang?

Well other mexican fighters who popped for clenbuterol / contaminated meat didn't even get suspended. The rematch was in serious jeopardy even before he was suspended.

    I usually start rating potential ATG's between their 3rd or 4th re-retirement.:)

Bro you and everybody who says this sounds silly and dumb, it's even an interview by Keith Thurnan were he laughs at it saying up to 1lb over is allowed in NON TITLE fights.. All this weight non sense with Canelo is just because he's been on the winning end of some close fights vs top quality fighters and ppl are salty about it. The only reason you can technically consider 155 MW in the Cotto/Khan fight was because of the title which was to accommodate the opposing fighter and the belt being contested at 155 was a travesty and was immediately dropped. Gtfoh with the bullsh!t.
