No he isn't overhyped at all. He's building. I'm one of the main people speaking on him, and I said this would happen as part of his growth/evolution. This was a desperately needed fight and strife to gauge his growth.
Well my point was that not KOing someone isn't a big deal. I'd be more concerned with him taking flush shots from Martin, but he still dominated him for the most part. He's still a work in progress.
Exactly. This forum has been skeptical of Anderson since the jump. Most everyone thinks he's good, possibly a top 10 HW at this point, but definitely not higher than that. He has some big defensive flaws for sure. But yes, ESPN hypes him relentlessly as they are paid TR shills.
True he has time to work on things like his movement and if Martin can learn to move better late in his career then no reason Anderson can't do the same. It will come down to his mentality and the quality of his team. He can't make the same mistakes Parker did and stick with the same team if it's clear they can't evolve him as a fighter.
He's just the best thing that a huge audience has right now. Wilder got outboxed then splattered by Fury twice and no amount of conspiracy theories can make it less upsetting to his fan base. The need for the next thing in the US HW scene couldn't be higher. Do I think Anderson is the real deal? Absolutely not. Still, he will be an entertaining top 10 guy and have a huge population supporting him. A bit of hype will inevitably ensue. When he inevitably gets stopped by some former amateur star from the east with only 10 fights I will not be shocked. Look at how far Dillian Whyte got in boxing. Right place, right time, hype is inevitable.
hes not any better than American HW Richard Torrez yet gets 100x the hype, let me stop before I get banned again
You can't get banned for telling the truth as you see it. I happen to agree that Torres is an excellent young heavyweight. He is well spoken and knows where he wants to go. However, he has five fights, all knockouts but Jared has 15 with 14 knockouts. Plus, he has charisma and a story. They gon milk that for all it's worth. Torres will get his turn. He just needs a few more fights.
I don't think Anderson is better, but we haven't seen Torrez face a name in the pros yet. Torrez can have a great career for the same reasons Anderson can, but I don't think either guy can get to the very top and stay there.
