Perhaps he should have moved up earlier, and we know he tried to make a fight with Hopkins years ago that fell through no fault of his own, but this isn't even what I'm talking about here... Why does he actually get direct criticism for moving up and beating what is supposed to be the best guy in a division - at any point? Either you rate him way more highly than your hating ass lets on and judge him by incredibly high standards or you are just blinded. You know, usually when a guy moves up and beats the best guy its actually a pretty good win. If Hopkins is 43 and he still whoops on Tarver and Wright, you better take up your issues with the LHW division because he was the man to beat and the logical fight.
The fight with Hopkins years ago was when Hopkins was at 160, so how would that have been 'moving up'? Also you don't know why that fight never happened, only the Calslappy fans claim that Hopkins ducked him so enough of the 'no fault of his own' bull****, Calslappy has a 10 year history of refusing to take on 'live' fighters, Hopkins doesn't. Hopkins was considered the best in the division at 175 for beating Tarver (how old?) who beat Jones (how old?) and he (Hopkins) also beat Wright in a snooze-fest. Wright had no business at the weight, to deny this is ludicrous. Hopkins at 175 was as dominant a champ as Trevor Berbick was when Tyson beat him - only 10 years older. It's a disgrace the way Calslappy fans try to elevate the guy on the back of this, it really is. What's even more ridiculous is you'll all be back here doing it again if he beats the shell of Jones. Of course Hopkins was the man to beat and the logical fight. Just like Jones was back in 2000-2001 when Calslappy first started talking **** about moving up and fighting in America. Why did he wait another 8 years? It seems everyone but the Calslappy fans knows the answer to that question :good
I thought they were meant to be sweet peas darling? Tastes a little sour to me. Who's that fella laying on the canvas in your avatar? Oh, I know who it is. I'ts JMM, the man who was twice robbed against a famous Pinoy fighter. What's his name again, sweet pea?
:rofl Surprisingly, this forum agree's with the general consensus... All Joe does when fighting old, past it legends is prove that those fighters were actually legends in the first place. Both a prime B-Hop and prime Roy Jones dominate a prime Joe C
Can you remember what EVERY dick and pony was saying before the fight? Trashing Hopkins (and his performance against Wright) and making bull **** claims that Calzaghe was going to RUIN him. Even insinuating that he would get stopped EARLY. You being one of them. Yet Hopkins performs better than expected and NOW Calzaghe should be respected for it? No, it's Hopkins that deserves the respect. Joe fought a guy in his mid 40's who everyone thought he was going to dominate, and nearly lost. Getting dropped in the process.
Im voting yes because Lennox Lewis is classed as one due to him beating a past his prime Holyfield and a decrepid Tyson. Although it wasnt Lewis's fault with the timing of his fights it isnt Calzaghes either.
He killed the MYTH that "Bernard Hopkins would never lose to a white man" But "Legend Killer" he is not.......Antonio Tarver already has that title :rofl :rofl
Yeah me being one of them, despite me actually picking a Calzaghe decision and being proven correct. :hi:
