I think Diaz's toughest tests would come against Casamayor and Campbell, but I just have a feeling he would win both.
All I know is that if Julio had ample power with that body work and some of those uppercuts, fight may have had a different result. We're dealing with Julio Diaz here, not an elite guy if you know what I mean, just a solid B level who happened to pick up that belt.
I could see Campbell beating him. I'd DEFINITELY take him over Casamayor at this point, Casamayor never did well against constant pressure.
I know I said Diaz should be Top 10 now, but I take it back after counting 10 fighters more worthy. Top 10 P4P: 1. PBF 2. Pacquiao 3. Hopkins 4. Hatton 5. Wright 6. Vazquez 7. JMM 8. Calzaghe 9. R. Marquez 10. Cotto _____________ Just missed... 11. Juan Diaz 12. Calderon 13. Casamayor 14. Mormeck 15. Kessler ____________ The last 5... 16. Mijares 17. Guzman 18. P. Williams 19. Dawson 20. John
1.PBF 2.Pac 3.JMM 4.Bhop 5.Calzaghe 6. Caulderon 7. Hatton 8. Cotto 9. Wright <-------Possible to put Baby Bull here 10. Vasquez <---- or here so yeah, he has a case to be top 10
Good list, but Dawson is WAAAAY too low, Wright is too high...And Hatton and Calzaghe should be switched.
In a span of two years, Hatton has already beaten fighters better than Calzaghe did in 10 years (Tszyu, Collazo, Castillo) than Calzaghe (Lacy, Eubank, Reid). Dawson has beat Adamek and Harding. One more big win sends him up. Also, I just realized that I forgot about Pavlik. Changed it: Top 10 P4P: 1. PBF 2. Pacquiao 3. Hopkins 4. Hatton 5. Wright 6. Vazquez 7. JMM 8. Calzaghe 9. R. Marquez 10. Cotto _____________ Just missed... 11. Juan Diaz 12. Calderon 13. Casamayor 14. Mormeck 15. Kessler ____________ The last 5... 16. Mijares 17. Guzman 18. P. Williams 19. Dawson 20. Pavlik
Yes. P4P isn't based on who has the best skill. It should be based on who would win, and his performance tonight tells me that there are very few people who have the stamina, heart, and fortitude to take his punishment for 12 rounds and win. I keep waiting for him to get exposed by a tough veteran...nope...a power puncher...nope...a slick boxer...nope...a mover...nope. No one can seem to stop Hurricane Diaz. PBF Pac JMM Hopkins Calzaghe Cotto Winky Juan Diaz Hatton Kessler? Vazquez? Mosely?
About time! Torito should displace the Winkys and the Bhops and all those oldies who were there solely for the nostalgia and sentimental reasons.:tong
Or for the fact that they proved their worth against other P4P fighters...but that is a different arguement for a different thread.
