Frank Warren lost Hatton then Calzaghe, and then Khan had his set back. Khan has bounced back, and now the 3 Olympians will be joining the camp. However Kell Brook has announced himself on the scene and looks confident, fast and powerful. He could become the main man within 12 months
Is Kell Brook the next big thing? In a word, yes I'm very impressed with him indeed and he has the explosive style that should make him a fans favourite How good he is we won't really know until he steps up mind
The skill and power seem to be there for sure and he's beating domestic/lower level opponents fairly easily. Only test now is for someone to take him 12 rounds and see how he handles going the distance 'cos you can't knock every opponent out.
Hope so. With Calzaghe and Hatton on the way out and David Haye saying he doesn't want to continue fighting past 30 or so, British boxing will need someone to step up to the plate. Need a step up in competition from him before we can make an good guess of where he will go. But I like him and he's looking good.
Haye may well stick to his word but (just off the top of my head) Calzaghe, Hatton, Benn, Lewis have all said in the past that they wouldn't be fighting when they were 30 and all have. Its an age that seems a long way away when a boxer is 24, 25 and coming into his prime but creeps up rather quicky and usually co-insides with the boxer being a posistion to get the big fights and really start to earn well which obviously makes retirement even less attractive.
This is true....I too believe The Hayemaker, especially if he does beat a Klitschko. Look at Eubank even now, he fought on possibly too long for money and look what happened to him, he was declared bankrupt. Either boxers love the sport so much that they can't prise themselves out the ring or they need the money despite earning more than most people ever could.
He looks excellent so far, shame he fights under Warren I think it will be at least a year before he takes a big step in class. Then we'll find out if he can carry that power up to genuine world class.
To be fair Toffeejack I think it'll be at least a year before he's ready for genuine world class opposition in any case.
He's looked really impressive so far though his opponent last time out was pretty poor. Needs to face the likes of Mutley, Watson, Matt Hatton and Lomax and then look to challenge for the Euro belt towards the end of the year.
theres a fight for the euro belt on the 28th. Rafal Jackiewicz vs Luciano Abis. warren should be able to get either over to the uk, sheffield even. the more fights like brook had on friday the worse he will become. i think hes **** hot, but has gotta step it up.
