A recent poll had Tszyu vs Floyd at about 50/50. Which to me is like saying Floyd vs Hearns is 50/50.

You have no business mentioning and rating Duran in a thread titled 'overrated'. Nor Chavez for that matter. Two legends. With KT you may have an argument..........

As I said. The Chavez and Duran hype is deserved. But you cannot say that Chavez and Duran arent overrated. Infact in nearly every head to head poll involving these guys they always win. Such as recently Chavez beating Mosley at 140.

Chavez is not underrated on this board. People pick him head to head against alot of fighter's he wouldn't beat.

Duran overrated? Absolute tosh! The greatest lightweight in history and 4 weight world champion in the days when holding title belts meant something? Something like 71/1 in his first 72 fights?

I think both Chavez and Duran are both ATGs no question

Duran is in my and my and many people's top 20 ATG list and Chavez in my top 30. Chavez won his first 89 fights btw, although maybe the quality of the opposition was questionable

That's probably why they are both favoured when choosing them over other opponents, they are genuine ATGs

How the **** is he overrated? He beat pretty much everyone there was at 140 and was an exciting fighter with knock out pop in almost any punch he threw. Seriously. Jesus christ have a little respect.

I've picked against Mayweather in one fight this decade. Rooting against him and actually thinking he's going to lose are two different things. Try again.

He has never fought another true elite opponent in their prime yet his fans think he would smoke prime Hearns, Leonard, Duran and Chavez in the same night. He struggled like hell two times against Castillo who was a poor man's version of Chavez yet his fans think he smokes a prime Chavez. Right

I agree, i liked Tszyu before coming on ESB, i remember a few years ago i was comparing Miguel Cotto with him and out of nowhere i was attacked with posts such as "Dont dare try compare this contender to a legend like Tszyu" and other posts like that.

Then i had arguments with guys saying Mosley ducked him etc

Tszyu's best win is ZAB JUDAH, get over yourselves.

First of all,Mosley hardly fought at 140 at all.He basically jumped from 135 to 147.Secondly,everyone picks Duran against anyone else at lightweight because Duran earned it.I'm 47 years old and have been watching boxing for almost 40 years and have never seen a better lightweight.Chavez's record speaks for itself, also. If Vince Phillips ko'd Tszyu, what the hell do you think Duran and Chavez would have done to him?And yes,I can honestly say that Chavez and Duran aren't overrated. At the end of his prime and 12 pounds over his best weight,DURAN BEAT SUGAR RAY LEONARD who is always picked as one of the greatest welters by everyone on this sight and everywhere else for God's sake.

In fact, I think that MANY peoplr overate Tszyu. Tszyo was a good fighter, but in my opinion he fell short of being a great fighter. He wasn't THAT old when Hatton beat him........and yes, Hatton held and held and held...but a GREAT fighter would have overcome that.

Vince Phillips beat a PRIME Tszyu. Even Tszyu's famous "chicken dance" punch/win against Judah looked close to the "lucky punch" syndrome to me. Judah was outclassing zoo up until that punch.

I ALWAYS thought that zoo was living on the edge....not dominating great fighters, but finding a win one way or another...often improbably.

And as far as Duran......there is NO way anyone could say that HE was overated. Duran passed the test time after time after time. He beat great fighters in their PRIMES. Losing to Hearns was nothing to be ashamed of. Although Hearns himself was overated, in that he was a "lottery" fighter, in that he could lose any fight if he got tagged, if he DIDN"T get tagged right on the button Hearns was an awsome force of nature. Duran happend not to connect and put Hearns out...so he lost. But he was without a DOUBT an all time great. Zoo...........to me he will always be a question mark.
